How is a #1 debut that spent it's second and third weeks at #2 a flop?

Lol Drake’s the biggest artist on the planet, his returning debut pop single with a special meme dance to match should’ve locked #1 for at least a month

    Apparently Abel outsold

Except, it's not a Pop single. It's not even a lead single. It's just a song he put out there. Travis Scott and the Weeknd both used bundles to boost their numbers while Drake didn't. Don't be ridiculous with your unrealistic expectations, especially for a song like Toosie Slide.

I see no lies. Unrealistic standards set for Drake and Drake alone. S*** makes absolutely no sense.

    Unrealistic expectations 😂😂😂

Drake is the 2nd biggest if not the biggest male artist on the planet, he’s set the standard himself and whenever he doesn’t live up to said standard or surpasses them you have to call it out too

If Beyoncé struggles to do stadiums we’d keep the same energy sis

    Lol delusion

Every champion or person of high value is held to a standard

BB100 #1 isn’t a not worthy achievement anymore since all the bs that’s happened with all these artists pulling gimmicks

TS should’ve blown BL out of the water

Yo what 😂, a loosie that is almost guaranteed to not even end up on his album which hasn’t even been formally announced is being compared to Abel’s lead single for his first album in 4 years. I’m pretty sure Abel is charting with like 330 points right now, God’s plan, Nice For What, In My Feelings all had like double that. I think even Nonstop would have blocked Abel for weeks. If Drake drops his actual lead single it’d dominate the charts.

    Exactly my point

Drake’s previous singles had more points, Toosie barely did double BL’s points, even with bundles this is Drake

This single wasn’t good, if it was it would’ve stuck to #1 instead of lose steam

    Your argument is garbage
Based off what you are saying every drake single should go #1
This how I know most of yall just started listening to music 3 years ago
Not every song is going to be a megahit
If drake debuted at 20 and the song hovered in the top 10 yall would call it a flop

Except those were lead singles for his album that was about to come out... not loosies that he threw out for fun. A counter point, One Dance debuted at 21, people called it a flop, then he had the most commercially successful album of his career. BL didn’t debut at number 1. TS may or may not overtake BL as it picks up on airplay and Abel loses steam from bundling.

My argument is garbage ? The Song was geared and marketed to be a smash, it’s a generic pop song with a simple replicable dance

Even Drake was reposting Toosie Slide videos ie giving people incentive to participate in the challenge

All I’m saying is this should’ve blown Abel out of the water, but now what ? It’s predicted to go #3 next week lol

Get over it, you people can’t handle any form of criticism

Yeah man a song he made in 20 minutes and a video he got his in house camera man to shoot at his crib debuting at #1, giving people of the world something to have fun to, and not free-falling on Hot 100 is a flop and we should consider it a fail

There’s a difference between a single and a lead single. Blinding Lights is by far the most popular song on After Hours and is generally a very good song. Toosie Slide was literally designed to be a fun catchy song to blow up on Tik Tok. It did that, and like literally every other Tik Tok trend, it burned out. Not many people are TSing now whereas everyone was for the first week.

Can Drake do better? Definitely, once he begins his album rollout and releases his lead single(s), yes. And if they don’t go number 1 right away, relax. Some songs pick up steam (One Dance, Hotline Bling), others are just fun throwaway tracks.

People were making fun of Abel when he was predicted to go #2 but he ended up dethrone Aubrey

    Keep the same energy

This doesn’t mean Aubs is any less of an artist either

Come on dude. You know it’s a flop. It didn’t stay at number 1 for 15 weeks, nor did it go diamond in 5 minutes, hell it didn’t even gather a billion streams yet.

No I get it, I think the song would’ve definitely done better if we were all allowed to go outside but for now it was lazy, bland & created noise for 1 week then dissipated

Hopefully Aubrey comes correct with the next single

I think you could argue it underachieved a bit (I think it was fine considering it’s just a throwaway people begged him to drop) since it didn’t stay at 1 after the first week, but calling it a flop is a bit too much imo

It shouldn't have done anything. Your opinion is bullshit. It isn't even criticism. All it does is demonstrate how casual of a "fan" you are and how little you know about singles and how they're meant to work.
