Imagine a top without The Elephant Man's Bones

Whatever bro, I don't have anything to prove to you. You're just some rando on the internet. I literally was able to parlay my "unsucessful" podcast into freelancing for Complex but you want to s*** on me because you have a sorry excuse for a life.

We all agree that Dawn FM is not a straight hip hop and is essentially an outlier on my list. So move on.

Ok, he doesn't rap on Dawn Fm. That much is true...

I literally just lumped into in there because it's Weeknd (who is a part of hip hop culture). I never imagined this would be so contentious.

Now, do you consider Drake's Honestly, Nevermind an electronic album or a hip hop album? Honest question.

It’s a dance album it’s not hip hop there are 2 rap songs

Bro Weeknd has been categorized as rap and hip hop for a long time. I mean he literally co-wrote Take Care. Abel is a part of hip hop culture.

Like people call Post rap lmao and you're dissing me for saying Dawn FM was amongst rap and hip hop's best projects this year.

Calling Dawn FM rap is nuts lmaooooooo

As long as you're being consistent in your view, then that's fine.

Personally, my opinion is that it depends on the artist's background. While there are musical qualities that are consistent with dance music, Drake is first and foremost a rapper. That isn't saying he couldn't ever become a dance music artist or go to another genre since apparently I have to spell that out. I just think there needs to be something more from him to be truly accepted in that space.

For example, I don't consider Big Fish Theory an electronic album even though there's elements of House music. But he did work with Sophie, so he was closer to crossing over genres successfully than Drake was in my opinion.

Essentially, I was saying it was rap-adjacent. You are all acting like I'm praising Weeknd for his rap bars lmao.

Weeknd absolutely is rap adjacent. I'll concede the point that Dawn FM isn't a rap album because well, it isn't. The poster who pointed out that it's synth pop is correct. But Weeknd as an artist is 100 per cent rap adjacent. Which is why he made my list in the first place.

Y'all are trying to gaslight me and it's weird bro. Like Mfers literally said Weeknd never rapped and I proved them wrong in this thread and telling ME I need to do research. The goddamn audacity.

And even IF it were inaccurate, how the f*** is it racist? This has nothing to do with race whatsoever.

I've explained my reasoning on this sufficiently enough, right? Like I explained why I included it and everyone understands it's an outlier, right?
