How am I baiting if I’m making a statement that no one disagrees with?? You seem confused. Take a nap.

Because otherwise there would be no point in making a thread about it

There’s nothing wrong with that statement in of itself.

Yes, that’s what I was talking about. If your post was literally just the title, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

    Synopsis

also the good thing about hormone blockers/puberty blockers is you can literally stop taking them and go through puberty still

    thecut.com/2016/07/whats-missing-from-the-conversation-about-transgender-kids.html

This article goes in depth with several of the studies

The Amsterdam study reported on 127 adolescents, 79 of them boys, and found that 80 of those adolescents, or about two-thirds, had desisted — that is, now identified as cisgender — at the time of followup. Singh, meanwhile, found that of the 139 former GIC patients she got in touch with, all of them natal males (that is, born with a p****), 122, or 88 percent, had desisted.

    WhatTheHeck

The research on this front is hardly conclusive. There are studies that show people who are gender dysphoric while young end up desisting and end up being comfortable with their gender identity.

Yes until like 12 yrs old, somewhere around 16 yrs old there's only a very small chance that that's still going to be the case.

Several? it goes into depth about two studies, and one of the studies, as I linked previously, has serious issues with its methodology. hell the very beginning of this article starts out with what could only be considered malpractice by a private practitioner in prescribing hormones to a 9 year old.

  • Jan 19, 2020

anyways the point is not whether they desist or not, its the fact that puberty blockers is a reversible process and that giving them the support and help they need literally lessens things like depression and suicide.

And your problem is the contents of the OP in which you think I’m baiting.

I really just wanted people to talk about the s***vs gender viewpoint and to what extent can you disagree with it and it not be problematic.

I’m not trolling. I actually wanted to see what people had to say. Lol

But what you’re talking about in op doesn’t exist. I’ve never seen anyone accused of being transphobic just for being genuinely confused. That doesn’t happen (or if it does, in very rare circumstances).

Also s***vs. gender is the simplest thing in the world:

    S***= biological (genitals, chromosomes, etc.)

Gender = assigned at birth based on your biological characteristics

Jordan Peterson is an example of someone who adamantly disagreed with it and was labeled a transphobe. This actually does happen.

And I know what s***and gender is - the relationship between the two and how people use it to interpret the world is what’s a messy.

He refused to be legally forced to use someone’s pronouns because he didn’t want to support social constructionism because he thought that it directly opposed the idea that there is truth.
(The term he used was postmodernism)

When asked, he said that he’d call people by their pronouns but just didn’t agree with the legality of it.

That doesn’t invalidate the other study does it? And there are 9 others all of which show a majority of children desist

  • Jan 19, 2020

That should always go without saying, unfortunately not everyone is that accepting.

I mean, there’s a difference between disagreeing with the law and disagreeing with using someone’s preferred pronouns.

one study isn't indicative of a trend especially with something like this where our understanding is still so basic.

and as the article you linked shows those studies go back to 1972 (i hope you don't need to explain how this impacts things) and the most recent two studies have a larger sample size than those previous studies combined.

sadly can't access this anymore but you can read the results/conclusion in the abstract

Peterson took issue with the law. Either way, people do disagree with the gender vs s***argument and are then labeled as transphobic.

This thread wasn’t a bait thread. I genuinely think the relationship between intellectual arguments and real world politics is an interesting one.
