I was replying to Americana who pulled the 65 number out of his ass, you're right and it represents an even bigger difference
I mean he wasn’t wildly wrong he just used it in the wrong context
The 500 is her best even and she won it nationally
As a male swimmer she was ranked 65th
It’s definitely a difference and it’s disingenuous to act otherwise but trust me when I say there is very little in the difference between 65th and 1st when you’re at this level - it’s 2-3 seconds - 65th is absolutely elite as well
It wouldn’t be unheard of for someone to progress from 65th to top 10-15 or even on rare occasions to first within the 3 year timespan between when she was ranked 65th as a male and when she won as a woman
There’s so much bs on both sides of this
Clearly if someone goes through male puberty and is 6’9 before transitioning to a woman even after hormone treatment they are still going to have an advantage because people who go through female puberty do not grow to 6’9
At the same time people on the other side play up the size of the advantage by orders of magnitude and play up how big of an issue this actually is (it’s not like every sport is suddenly dominated by trans women). On top of that the ppl making a deal about this are EXACTLY the same ones making jokes about the WNBA the idea that they care about womens sports and aren’t just out to s*** on trans people is laughable
All reactionary posturing. Solutions aside, this being a dilemma in and of itself should be completely understandable to anyone.
Genuine question how much of an advantage does being biologically male even give you
Like ofc males and females are biologically different but how much to the point where its a factor in sports like this
swimming is based entirely on body and weight, women have wider hips men have broader backs/shoulders and that plays an important role in technique and power
Solution imo is gender inclusive sports, just like they got those bathrooms for everyone
Should have leagues wit no gender boundary

leagues already have no gender boundary. A woman can play in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS etc. if they can make the roster. A woman has actually played goalie for 1 pre season NHL game I believe.
There is a reason women aren't in the leagues and it isn't because they aren't super talented

Yeah absolutely, I just feel like so many people like Americana are being disingenuous and present "facts" that fit their narrative in a question where i'm not sure there is a right answer. You're right in what you say, although a few seconds can be a big difference and hypothetically, the difference between being the 65th best swimmer and the best swimmer is massive no matter what.

Family don’t be disingenuous
NBA is for men, there’s a WNBA
A woman would die taking a hit across the middle from Derwin James
The top 4 major sports in America all have women’s variations of the sport for a reason

so you saying there should be a third league for all genders? honestly would be cool to see for basketball and soccer the most just to witness the physical disparity

Gender exclusive league, they won’t even ask your gender cuz it’s not important
Just pull up and come ball
This is a pretty difficult topic where KTT just not mature enough to have a meaningful discussion tbh.

Last sentence is wildly incorrect , if anything it’s more they just can’t perform at the same standard as men which shouldn’t be a surprise. Has nothing to do with lack of talent

But just to chalk up all that to women altheletes lack of talent is pretty disrespectful
@Vega Where'd that post go bro? Trying to push some hidden agenda that transphobes shouldn't be banned for saying bigoted s*** lol
I appreciate folks like @gamebreaker though cause they bring good discussion points and solutions. Even though we may have a difference of opinion.

in HS playing ball we would run scrimmages every once in a while with the womens team if some of them wanted to join at the end of practice and it was a silent rule to let them do their thing when guarding until the game got close but with adults s*** could be kinda iffy.
like The drew league doesn’t have a gender exception i don’t think but if you look how they play it’s a lot of street ball action
But just to chalk up all that to women altheletes lack of talent is pretty disrespectful
exactly. it's relative. you can make the case for Serena Williams being just as great an athlete as Federer even if Federer would crush her in a 1v1.
But anyone remember when a guy who was ranked 203rd for men's tennis crushed Serena?
What does that say about the skill difference between men and women's sports?

I just look at it from the sports POV, if I was a trans breh I understand how hard it is to be accepted participating in athletics
I don’t think it’s entirely fair to them either

What I'm saying is the leagues are not excluding people based on gender, it is that the top women players aren't able to compete with the top men due to biological differences.
IMO the leagues should be XY and XX and whatever you are born as you should have to compete in that league. That's just my take and it could be wrong
I support the trans community but sports might be one area where we have to go by s***and not gender

what I'm saying is the women athletes are extremely talented and their craft should be respected. They just can't compete in the mens leagues because of biological differences at that top level
it's not a slight to the athletes in anyway

Ah okay. Sorry I misunderstood your post
Wasn’t shorty that was an Olympic
Swimmer gettin dusted in races by cisgirls even after she transitioned?
Or am I getting that wrong

Same here, when I played JV they’d have us scrimmage varsity girls and s***
I think it can be done, there’s some women who can dominate lesser male competition
