I feel like it really should be up to the discretion of those who are competing or involved in some level. Arguing from an outside perspective is probably not in good faith and leads to some ugly stances, even if I personally would say I’m probably more in favor or not allowing them to compete for this circumstance
Yes? Her times before and after transitioning were vastly different, and she won one single race
She isn’t even top ranked in the US as a woman. She’s ranked 46th amongst women in the US as of the 2021-2022 seasons
Lol what was her ranking when she was a nigga? 46th may be pretty high relative to where she ranked when she identified as a male

Fam the people participating most def don’t want them playing smh

65th
it's just transphobia tbh
how long until other people arent allowed to compete in sports because they have a different biological structure from a fit "aryan"
65th
That's not true, that was her rank at UPenn where she was 65th on the men's team but 1st on the women's team. Quite a big difference

You'll just put them in an uncomfortable position. Folks just want to compete not forced to speak on their stance. That why these decisions should still come from the administrative body
65th
In the 2018–2019 season she was, when competing in the men's team, ranked 554 in the 200 freestyle, 65 in the 500 freestyle, and 32 in the 1650 freestyle.

Now take the best male swimmer and give them the same percentage change and see where that would put them vs the women.

She wasn’t 65th on the mens team lol I doubt UPenn mens team even has 60 members
She was 2nd fastest in the Ivy League as a male swimmer she definitely was one of the better swimmers on that team probably top 5-10
That being said her times as a woman are definitely more impressive relative to her times as a man

I think that’s fair, but I also feel like it would be unfair to be non inclusive of those involved. It’s a tough situation that I could never feel good enough about giving a definitive answer to, so I feel for those who have to

You’re misunderstanding these numbers
During the last season Thomas competed as a member of the Penn men’s team, which was 2018-19, she ranked 554th in the 200 freestyle, 65th in the 500 freestyle and 32nd in the 1650 freestyle.
These are national rankings not within UPenn
How are niggas deadass tryna argue that competing against women didn’t help this lady look more dominant?
There’s so much bs on both sides of this
Clearly if someone goes through male puberty and is 6’9 before transitioning to a woman even after hormone treatment they are still going to have an advantage because people who go through female puberty do not grow to 6’9
At the same time people on the other side play up the size of the advantage by orders of magnitude and play up how big of an issue this actually is (it’s not like every sport is suddenly dominated by trans women). On top of that the ppl making a deal about this are EXACTLY the same ones making jokes about the WNBA the idea that they care about womens sports and aren’t just out to s*** on trans people is laughable
Had to happen
Problem is people think fairness in sports = fairness in gender rights and thats not really the case

I was replying to Americana who pulled the 65 number out of his ass, you're right and it represents an even bigger difference
