i’ve been slowly going thru it & it definitely gets better past the first couple episodes. I was turned off by the pilot upon its release (it’s still pretty bad tbh) but i’m halfway thru now & it definitely isn’t as bad as I thought

it’s super dense & that works against it kinda but it’s not as bad as this new season, they’re in different worlds of quality

There's a camp that's overcompensating by heaping tons of praise on the new season because they're convinced that it's only men who don't like the series and don't want to see female leads in a show, then you've got another camp that treats this season like it's the worst thing to ever happen to TV since Tosh.O, but the truth is that True Detective has never been prestige TV as a whole.

Given the movies Issa made/wrote, this season being bad was not a surprise. Holy hell, what a s***show
