I’ve actually only watched True Romance & Natural Born Killers for the first time last month

I’m looking for more “lovers on the lam” movies if anyone has any recommendations. I’ve of course already seen classics like Bonnie & Clyde + Badlands

This is more so for the screenwriters on here to showcase how other great screenplays came about. Originating from the same place.

So he sampled that guy, and hand wrote (nice practice) on top of it , hes unoriginal been know

S*** man, hard to say that. Movies look way worse now

    Ridley Scott >>>>>>

I'm a sucker for the 70s grain and natural light. Before that they knew how to do lighting set ups and production design.

Seems like standards really fell in he 80s with VHS and rentals and consumer grade equipment. Any piece of s*** could make money. No barrier to entry. Dilution of the guilds. Took some decades for the people from that era to actually die out of course. Then the people who grew up admiring them also had to come and go.

There's just not an appetite for that. It's unnecessary. TV is a 10 hour season. Crank it out. Every blockbuster is dictated by VFX work. It's over.

Scott would at least go out of pocket for his own fleet of helicopters. Now it's boring ass drones.

    Drone shots

It’s hilarious to see people in here moralize about “unnecessary” violence and naughty language in a crime film riffing on and directly referencing 70’s exploitation movies. Also seeing Tony Scott’s work called ugly….yeah just some all time terrible takes in this thread.

Wild at Heart, the Breathless remake from the 80’s (which is a clear influence on both Wild At Heart and True Romance), Spielberg’s Sugarland Express, and The Getaway.

Top 10 all time film for me. Beautifully life affirming, genuinely erotic, and filled to the brim with excitement for cinema as a form.

when a klansman or a cop or a white CEO would use the n-word in a blaxploitation film their was at least often a purpose behind it. same goes for the use of sexualized violence in something like The Student Nurses or The Rape Squad. I got no issue with "naughty" language or graphic violence within a certain context, films convey a class position.

Tarantino however doesnt understand the films he riffs on because he's a p*** addict and a zionist, which is how you wind up with Kill Bill, a postmodern pastiche where a white woman slaughters people of color by the dozens because "it looks cool".
