Yeah this is bullshit. Britain, Austria and other developed countries have has problems and straight up fraud with mail in voting.

It doesnt take a genius to figure out that parents will fill out their childrens voting papers instead of thel since we all know that young people dont vote.

I don't know of a single modern example of Britain ever being subject to significant issues relating to postal voting fraud.

If your 'evidence' relating to mail-in voting fraud in Austria is the 2016 election, you may wanna re-read up on it because it took me about 30 seconds to spot the flaw in your claim.

Voting fraud relating to mail-in voting has time and again been debunked in the US as incredibly negligible. Again, incident rates between 0.0003% and 0.0025%.

And what you are referring to in your final statement is voter coercion. There is again no significant evidence of that occurring on a widespread scale to where it is affecting the legitimacy of an election result.

it's not about the countries, it's about the reactions of stupid liberal pundits in the US trying to stir fearmongering or discuss topics without nuance with extreme dissonance. liberal democracy in general is a sham. the entire news cycle over the past 4 years has been based on cognitive dissonance

  • Aug 17, 2020

the diff is im assuming in NZ it's within the prime ministers power to delay the election? that's not a thing in the US, so for Trump to push delaying the election when it isnt something Congress wants to do comes off as despotic

I mean It's still incomparable.. it would be fine to have opposing positions imo

Not defending CNN but I think it's more pointing out the ironic position of having literally 0 cases whilst also performing more care to its population than the current US administration

But you've literally just posted only the headline as if to stir fear mongering without nuance

Its made clear in every article that it's been delayed for 4 weeks because a sudden Covid outbreak has restricted the ability to campaign and both parties thought it was the fair move.

so to be clear you think it's a good idea to have the election when the virus hasn't been controlled but a good idea to delay it when it has been?

will any delay in the election really make a diff until the COVID situation in the US is fine? you would have to delay the election months

i posted this and people immediately think i'm defending the trump administration; people who have been wanting to do the election right away are asking for a disaster in the US. Look at the mail-in ballots in NYC and see hwo much of a disaster that was for a primary. Delay until correct infrastructure is setup, as a consequence of the dumbass parties in the US not doing anything for months or years in advance to prepare for this. Go ahead and do the election and see how well it'll turn out. This isn't about fraud it's about how terrible our infrastructure and planning is and how if we have an election it's going to be a bigger disaster than a delay.

the US does not have the infrastructure for voting see the NYC primary chaos which preceded the post office thing. as i said in the post above the mere fact people think this is a defense of the trump administration is hilarious. both parties in the US have utterly failed to do their jobs and it's going to result in a disaster regardless. you can't complain about things just before they happen. if i keep an active fire going in my house and it only burns down after 5 years i can't be like "oh it's just the fault of the people in the house yesterday". literally who cares, the election system in this country is so arbitrary anyway it doesn't matter when they have it. take the time to at least fix the bullshit in this country first rather than act up to ideological purity that going ahead with it won't be a giant disaster

Are you okay with Trump having a third term? I thought Trump supporters were all for their constitutional rights?

If NZ Parliament unanimously agrees to delay their election, then so be it.

The reasons for delay are completely different, everyone with a brain can see why Trump's popularity is continuing to decline and why he's suggesting this.

an election would have to occur before January 20. trump staying in office longer than this due to an election delay would be disastrous
