do you think the COVID situation in the US is fine

Trump isn't floating the idea of election delay because of Covid, he's doing it because he's an autocrat.

Arden also has the ability to do this and it's been met with support from all sides. There's nothing enshrined that allows Trump to delay the election.

These are also wildly different infrastructures and population spread considerations.

Ardern: "Voters are sovereign. Holding an election during a Covid outbreak has the risk of serious interference in our democracy. Voters would be expected to exercise their electoral rights with a dearth of information and that is unacceptable. With a delay parties can now prepare to begin campaigning again, confident that they have the time and resources to engage in a free and fair election."

Comparatively, lack of campaigning is hardly a feasible justification for delaying the US election given the huge gap in campaign laws, funds and timelines.

an election would have to occur before January 20. trump staying in office longer than this due to an election delay would be disastrous

i'm fully okay with the dissolution of a federal government over the inability of competing parties to correctly do anythinng

i don't care why Trump is saying it. i don't care about Trump. just because trump says a phrase does not mean the universality of that phrase correlates to the motivation of trump.

you can argue with me on the sole topic of if delaying an election is the worst thing ever without having to argue about it based on the context of what my wider views are. as i said above, the phrase is not universally connected to trump. the mere idea of an election delay is not the end of the world and could be handled fine or as an emergency break to shift funding to public infrastructure and fix our broken voting system. instead acting like the universal idea of a delay is automatically bad because trump said it instead of stealing his messaging and using it to benefit the country while also holding his words against him is exactly why i hate modern politics. trump says dumb s*** because he's stupid and has no ideology, he just repeats what people around him say. democrats, if they genuinely cared about the country and weren't just the party of not trump, should be able to use this to their advantage because they'd see the benefit in doing so disconnected from the biased GOP messaging. instead they continue being the not trump party thus further dismissing chances of some good ideas actually disseminating

Nobody thinks it's bad because trump wants to do it, its because like I said everyone with a brain knows he wants to sway the election and break his own principles whilst doing it lol

not agreeing with trump but seeing value in how certain actions have their own benefit aside from his messaging does not make me a centrist

i don't belong to either party and even if i did it wouldn't matter, i'm not a political operative or consultant. i vote third party depending on the candidate and only ever care to vote because of the importance of local elections
