It's hard to say because, for those who want him to lose, obviously if he dies, he's out of the running and out of office, but then it's like Pence is the next in line and will people vote for pence or is it too late for any of that to play well enough

Just think, if Trump does die there will be people alive who’ve experienced two presidents dying while still in office.

If Trump dies prior to the election, Pence is gonna win big time. Biden’s whole strategy is defeating Trump. Biden would have to rework his strategy to be defeating Pence. Pence isn’t loved, but isn’t nearly as disliked as Trump. Trump supporters would come out in even bigger numbers to carry Trump’s legacy. Trump’s favorable ratings would shoot up after his death as the country “rallies around the flag”. Meaning independent voters would likely switch to Pence. People on the fence who don’t like either candidates would now have a candidate that hasn’t had months of attacks directly against him. Attacks on the administration’s failure on COVID would likely be seen as controversial at that point, and would be toned down, and that’s one of the biggest attacks they have on Trump.
