TheoryIf Trump dies prior to the election, Pence is gonna win big time. Biden’s whole strategy is defeating Trump. Biden would have to rework his strategy to be defeating Pence. Pence isn’t loved, but isn’t nearly as disliked as Trump. Trump supporters would come out in even bigger numbers to carry Trump’s legacy. Trump’s favorable ratings would shoot up after his death as the country “rallies around the flag”. Meaning independent voters would likely switch to Pence. People on the fence who don’t like either candidates would now have a candidate that hasn’t had months of attacks directly against him. Attacks on the administration’s failure on COVID would likely be seen as controversial at that point, and would be toned down, and that’s one of the biggest attacks they have on Trump.
I mean, there’s still the GOP senate, and the Supreme Court who literally plan on tackling the ACA right after the election.

Trump is mad charismatic and builds his reputation on being an outside candidate, a “Fuck you” to Democrats and the political system. Pence is unlikable and a career politician- he doesn’t command anything near the same level on enthusiasm

Idk, by the time Trump would most likely die, a lot of people would have cast their ballots already because of mail-in/early voting, which favors Dems by a lot. And a lot of the trailer-park Trumpers would probably be discouraged because I doubt they care about a Mike Pence.
Whole thing would be up in the air tbh, even during peak Corona Trump didn't get a huge rally around the flag effect
