Word is Knocked Loose and Basement are the tour openers.

Big venues too, expect Barclays/Staples sized spots

first 20 seconds of LIght Design sounds like the next great Chapell Roan hit single, the rest of the song sounds like when the deafheaven singer decides not to scream. I love it

@Bow_And_Arrow how is this comparing to glow on so far..

  • Jun 7, 2025

I loved glow on, but kinda got into heavier and more raw production again, and now I miss the nonstop feeling era lol

I went a tiny bit in depth on the last page. I think it’s good overall, but the success of Glow On kind of forced this album to stick close to that style, and I don’t think it has the songwriting that Glow On did.

Before I rant, I want to say it’s still a good album overall.

However, this felt like it was trying too hard to recreate the magic of Glow On. I could even hear what specific songs they were pulling from on some of the tracks here. It’s also really similar as far as a production standpoint, and that’s fine because it sounds good, but it doesn’t help as far as trying to differentiate from Glow On. I imagine it would be hard to deviate too far from an album that 10x’ed their popularity, especially since it was a unique sound to them and it wasn’t some sellout moves that got em big.

IDK maybe I’m just the old punk that everyone makes fun of for only liking the old stuff

going to listen in full today.. sounds like a well rounded informed take. I had thought the singles were in far too familiar territory, I instantly thought one of them is very inspired by Mystery

New album just kind of feels like Glow On 2, only 10 minutes longer and not as good. They experiment a little bit beyond the confines of that record but nothing crazy and the hooks and energy aren't quite there. It's not a bad album by any means, but I would say it's definitely the lesser of the two, having listened to them back to back tonight,

Also, I miss the brief, exciting guitar solos we got on songs like Mystery. I know they have a new guitarist so maybe they're trying to figure that dynamic out but there was some catharsis missing.

I’m not really sure what Yall wanted from this album? Experimentation? They were literally hardcore band for a decade and then made Glow On. This is their new sound. It’s not like everyone has to be Kanye and reinvent the wheel

If they're not trying to reinvent the wheel like they did with Glow On, I think more fundamental aspects like the hooks (less memorable) and production (more processed and compressed) could have been stronger. They took the blueprint they drew up last time, polished it up and slowed it down. Not what I want from them, but I get why people like it.

I love Glow On. Listened to it again tonight and enjoyed every second of it. Very fresh album when it dropped and it still holds up because of the anthemic songwriting and enthusiastic performances. The sound is massive and it felt like they were capable of anything at the time.
