spirited away is an ok movie. it does nothing that other ghibli movies don’t do better. it also has little to offer outside of charm and being beautiful. nobody can ever actually explain why this movie is considered one of the best of all time because it’s just a nostalgia thing. it just happened to be the first one that had a large release in america
You might be on to something here
I like the superhero movies from the 90s & 2000s.
Movies like
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
The Crow
Hellboy 1 & 2
Blade 1 & 2
Daredevil
Watchmen
Sin City
X2: X-men United
are all entertaining films with very different tones & aesthetics, and I wish these movies could make a comeback & co-exist alongside the CBMs we have today.
Venom was a fun example of this & I hope Sony takes their universe & keeps on going in that direction.
I also like the Snyderverse & even though those films have their flaws it was something different to what we have now.

People really like to buy into the whole escaping to some mystical other land I think. Seem reason movies like Avater pop off.
Need bad guys to start feeling like bad guys again
Agreed. Last time I seen some f***ed up bad guys in a movie without trying hard was Dragged Across Concrete
The Leftovers best season is the first one, it got too unrealistic afterwards and the script stopped making sense

Real. Need a non-redeemable mofo dripping blood with the protagonist holding his chopped head.
I fkn despise Django Unchained, it makes me feel uncomfortable, and I don't like the way tarantino directs the film, it feels exploitative.
Funny, bc I'm lightskin, all the black people i know either don't like or are on the fence about the movie, and all the cacs love it.

It’s not exactly about making sense and more so a commentary on having faith in something and how people cope with tragedy
Making sense is a outlier and purposely never explained

I was talking about the script, not the fantastic elements (even tho I dont like the limbo stuff personally), some of the character choices seem like they were forced for the story to keep moving forward. IDK, maybe it wasnt for me, still loved the first season a lot, and season 2 set up was very interesting.
DC animated joints wouldn't suck so hard if they adapted the comics better instead of trying make something palatable

Ngl I love that movie lmao mainly cuz halfway through the film as likable as Christophs character is the “white savior” aspect of the movie gets eliminated with him and Django has to save shorty on his own

One of my main gripes with MCU Thanos, he was f***ed up but his reasoning made him seem like he was thinking of the greater good, comics Thanos literally was just killing niggas cuz he was simpimg for Death lmao
Bong joon-ho films are massively overrated, espescially Memories of Murder which is straight up ass
Boyhood was a film I just couldn't enjoy, it felt like the 10 year filming gimmick consumed the plot completely. I didn't have a reason to care about the characters or their mundane pointless story. I don't get the praise for this film.

The crow is arguably the best origin superhero movie
Dave Chapelle is not that funny. He is mainly funny to American audience.
I live in australia and I think he is funny, most standup is trash though, so it's not like he has a lot of competition.
Especially where I live there is a MASSIVE comedy scene, cacs here love it but its not funny at all.
i respect your opinion though
