OP has no sense of accountability

You sound like pro-life so your not really adding to this discussion. This a pro-choice debate/discussion.

If women have the right to abort, then men should have the right to abandon within a certain timeframe just like abortion.

Doesn’t make it morally right, but this isn’t about morality, this is about rights afforded to you by the law and freedom.

Yes very important you said that first part because this is definitely a discussion of pro-choice. Because in reality, pro-choice is only one person's choice. And that one person's choice will effect you literally forever and you can't do anything about it.

aka “i should be allowed to have my cake and eat it too”

there are consequences to every action and acting like “well she wont change her mind so im gonna leave” is 100% childish behavior.

extremely oversimplified views of sex, birth, and child rearing

Okay, what about when she wants the abortion and I don't?

@op you are right on this issue and numerous men over the years have voiced the same concern.

In my opinion, men’s right to abandon should be equivalent to how long women have the right to abort.

If you abandon after the legal amount time you have to do so, then you should still be held financially responsible. However, if you abandon within the abortion window then you should only have to pay a one-time abandonment fee that will be paid to the mother come birth and be done. Similar to how women have to pay for an abortion.

Now if you abandon, you do not have the legal right to try to establish a relationship later until the child is 18, in which case they are grown. If you attempt to come back in the picture, then you should be charged with a crime and be given a restraining order.

If the woman doesn’t tell you she’s pregnant until after the window for you to abandon, then you should still have the right to abandon for at least 30 days past the day you were informed.

If you know you have kids out there and you do nothing for them you a pitiful excuse of a man regardless if you wanted them or not

its a sensitive topic and i see where ur coming from, i mean we live in a generation with girls baby trapping rappers/athletes for child support

its just messy all around , so would that child not legally count as ur blood kinda like a sperm donation?

Don’t bring me into that men’s rights s*** man

Why don’t you actually respond to what I said

Imagine you have a happy family, with a wife of 10 years and you guys have a 6 year old daughter. One day you come home to a note on the table that just says “bye”, with your wife and daughter gone
She decided she wasn’t happy with you anymore and is moving back in with her parents with your kid

You are f***ed, and there is little chance you can do anything about it

It's akin to the same thing when you break it down. Nobody holds a donor to that esteem, even though it's the same principle of you giving sperm to someone that clearly wants to have a baby when you don't.

I dont know what laws pertain women and men when it comes to birth so im not gonna act like i do

What i will say tho is that while it takes two to bring a child in, the mother puts in a substantial majority into bringing life. She carries the child, nourishes it, cares for it, and in a lot of cases is at risk of dying herself. THEN she gotta go through the pain of birth, and then feeding/caring for the child. All the dude gotta do is pump.

If she wants an abortion its not just the babies health but hers as well. Mentally and physically. Its essentially her job to take care of the kid. She cant run away from a baby in her stomach the way a man can from the mother of his child. Besides giving birth and sending to adoption, that is her only choice

Also, you don’t have the right this opinion if you are not willing to hold women to the same standard. I can respect your opinion if you are willing to call out women that abort the same way. If you are willing to give them a pass, then you are just hypocritical.

Same goes for women, and if it doesn’t then your opinion is hypocritical and wrong.

Wait, but a woman gets to have her cake and eat it too by having an abortion if she doesn’t want to keep the kid, right?

Yes they carry a large burden, one you just acknowledged they are agreeing to take on by refusing to terminate the pregnancy. It's not as easy as it is for a man to leave, neither is carrying a child in general.

And women don't need the man's permission to have an abortion. I've known two people personally that their girl have terminated the pregnancy without telling them. Both men were hurt beyond words knowing their seed was erased like that. Are those women viewed as deadbeats? No. They're given pats on the back door making a hard decision but the one they felt was best for them because they weren't ready for a child.

Now you tell me how that's any different.

It’s not your choice what a woman does with a seed inside of her body. If you knock her up and she keeps it you’re obligated to take care of it and if she isn’t ready to be a parent she can get an abortion. Call it hypocritical if you want but every man should be involved in their children’s life
