seperate mobile hotspot device hmmmm.... so u pay for 2 phone bills? or do u swap out the sim card every day? im intrigued. this might be better cuz im slowly killing my battery

Nah I pay one bill actually. My internet and my phone bill are the same and from the same provider. I have unlimited data on my phone, and my phone provider has various options for internet that can be used in the home, one of which is this small mobile hotspot device that you can bring and charge just like a phone. You can put a SIM-card into it, kind of like a phone (but it only gives you WiFi, no other features) and you can connect that SIM-card to your current phone deal so that the SIM-card in the mobile hotspot shares the same unlimited data that I have on my phone.

Yes, I have my regular SIM card in my phone, and got another one in the mobile hotspot. My provider gives the option to purchase more SIM-cards that you can connect to the same bill/subscription and use in other devices, such as a mobile hotspot.

No extra dawg. I had to pay for the device itself of course, I think it was maybe 100 bucks, but the SIM-card was free (and I can add more SIM-cards for like 5 bucks extra per month if that would ever be practical). My monthly phone bill is the same as usual. I'm only paying a fixed fee for the unlimited data on my bill (also just got a new phone so I'm paying that off).

I have like 3gb of high speed data and than it goes to really slow speed that’s only good enough for YouTube but that’s the only thing I really use when at home and that’s fine for me. Also if I need to download something for some reason at night and morning times my download speed isn’t throttled anymore so that’s when I just download movies and music for entertainment.

Neither I use the WiFi. When I click on the WiFi symbol there is a section that pops up called personal hot spot and I connect with that after I turn on the personal hotspot on my phone.

nah hes right lol cant speak for every provider but after the first 40gb of data for me, its then capped at a ridiculously unpractical speed of 348kbps between certain times irc. with speed that slow real talk it might as well be off

i'd imagine most providers have a similar model otherwise excessive data usage could be exploited

although ive contemplated this a few times but find myself using way too much when working from home

That seems like such a bleak existence

My friend stopped paying her wifi bill & uses her bf's phone as hotspot for everything. It makes simple s*** like playing music on youtube unnecessarily slow. If we put something on netflix we basically have to wait for the entire movie to buffer first. It made me lowkey hate going over their house.

Hotspot is convenient when you're on the go and just need basic browsing capabilities.

def depends on how populated the city you are in is and who's your phone provider
5g or 4g in less populated areas with a good carrier could be as fast as home internet and compared to dsl it's actually much faster

now if you have cricket or some mvno that's putting your data thru a slow ass proxy than that is definitely gonna suck d***

also most americans carriers slow you down to 90s dsl speeds if you hit their soft cap (usually 22gb)

Look up AT&T ipad unlimited hotspot plan

then just get a sim card from bestbuy and get an ipad imei number online

then buy a (good) hotspot router. I copped mine for about $400 but its so worth it, you want one with good carrier aggregation

$30 a month for unlimited data, quite the finesse

no clue if u can do it outside of the US tho
