Young DIt’s crazy how good Vince and his team are at telling stories visually
I think something to this effect was said in the BCS thread, but I could literally watch them showing like an IRS worker going about their day and be absolutely fascinated
Knew i was watching a Vince project when episode 2 started off with The Hive cleaning up and the Pirate Lady making her way to the U.S with no dialogue or score and the point of that scene not being explained untill later in the episode

Vince is a truly phenomenal director. I really do think he’s one of the best directors of our time.
His visual storytelling is extremely impressive

JonboiSomething my homie suggested to me, which I didn't really consider, is that the hivemind is probably "dumbing itself down" more than we realize with the remaining individualists so they feel more like their loved ones. We don't see too much of it yet but he brought up how the interaction between the asian couple was very familiar. If they show more of that, that'll probably go a long way towards selling me.

I mean also the point that the cinematography explained a lot about what was going on. That anyone could fly a plane and do anything.

he's saying the wife of the asian guy acted more like a couple at one of the points, instead of the hive mind, and that could hint at the idea that they turn themselves into the personality of their loved ones on a dime, instead of always acting like an impersonal megaGod

Seems like tv directors are forced to shoot in scope for streaming shows now and most of them don’t have the skill for it but Vince is great at blocking so it’s not really a problem here
Funny cause scope was initially a counter to TV but the tables have flipped and now TV is shot in scope and more film directors are embracing IMAX which is closer to the academy ratio

The biggest disbelief I currently have is why in the f*** the 5 others (minus Diabate since he doesn’t have a family that we know of yet) are totally cool to just have their family turn into mindless robots who had their souls replaced by some virus thing. I feel like they should be going even harder than Carol is to figure out how to fix everything
Even Diabate — I mean I get why he’s happy, but I feel like realistically it would take at least a few months (if not a few years) to get jaded enough to the point where you’d just take advantage of the material pleasures. I’d be way too shaken and traumatized if I were him in that moment
Yeah it feels like maybe it’s a metaphor for grief, the people who their family members once were is essentially gone/dead and they’re stuck in the first phase “denial”
Carol is different because her partner actually died so she’s in the second phase, anger
It does feel a bit silly though, there’s a lot of clashing elements, like the show has this dark realism that makes it compelling but the way those 5 characters acted feels more like it’s just an allegory and realism is thrown out the window at that point

BabaláwoUmm went into this without watching any trailers or reading what this show would be about. First episode was.. ok. I can’t say I was particularly blown away. Seeing people say “best pilot ever” and Imma just let yall get that off.
Gonna check out episode 2 tomorrow.
this concept has been done a lot but maybe it’s fresh for some people so that might be why “best pilot ever” is getting thrown around. The acting and cinematography are excellent, however
