Obama administration would have probably failed on some accounts (like economic response I'd imagine) but even things like having some pandemic planning in place like Obama did would have helped a lot. It's the same thing in the UK, our current party of government have been in since 2010 and dismantled the pandemic planning of the previous government as an 'efficiency saving'. So that alone would have helped a lot. You wouldn't have been starting from scratch then
Yup!
Moving forward, who ever is in office will need to be prepared for this and I’m sure they will
This set precedent
“We survived the first term”
People are catching COVID by the thousands and people were setting the country was on fire a month ago protesting racial injustice
Please do not take the effects of COVID for granted because it doesn't personally affect you (which it easily could). This pandemic has caused a loss of life the likes of which we have never seen in recent history, and it has to clear end in near sight. Why do you think re-closures are taking place now?
Just something to think about
- BRAVEAgain, read my posts carefully regarding COVID in this thread
I’m not taking it lightly I’m observing the little we know, how we responded, and how the world will adapt in pandemics in the future

Covid isn’t political
George Bush or Stalin could be in office and you could still get sick
There is no cure, treatment, or vaccine for COVID
the news politicizing and sensationalizing this got you thinking the COVID picks sides lol
yeah they arguably became complacent around certain issues so weren't prepared for what happened in South Carolina.
At the end of the day there were still successes, we could look back and see that his campaign built the foundation for a future stronger left in the party.
true, there are a lot of good takeaways from and new standards set by his campaigns and ultimately he's inspired a lot of young, forward thinking people to run for office (and win!)

well yeah but how can trump's response be seen as anything less than a failure, when his administration directly made the US less prepared?
Smarter politicians always knew this coming. A global pandemic was eventually inevitable it was a matter of when. The scientific community had been warning them for years. We're letting people like Trump off the hook if we act like a pandemic wasn't always seen as a risk. Just cos it wasn't a top media narrative, it was brought up to them again and again.
For example, in the UK it was higher than terrorism as the number one threat to the UK for most of the decade. Our leaders reacted to this by dismantling pandemic planning and ignoring when their tests showed they'd fail. That is a government failure, both in the US and the UK.

he shifted policy possibilities too. he's gotta be the most successful candidate of his type to run for the nomination. Jesse Jackson probably got closest before him right?
damn we really got trump-loving people on ktt? s***’s shameful
They're on my block list now
I don't have time for anyone that can't learn a lesson in 4 years

He will need to be better prepared in the future
You can only get caught lacking once
If this happens again in 2022 you can’t respond the same way you did in 2020

but they were warned, he ignored that warning and failed to protect his country. And was shoddy with public health messaging
it's as simple as that.

Everything you do is scrutinized
Everything you do involves the threat of you getting impeached lol
Whenever you do unconventional things like ban flights from other countries you get called racist or xenophobic
So Corona starts to circulate and right after your impeachment trial you’re briefed and you play it down
Them you realize it’s real and you start banning flights but the population starts chalking it up to you being racist and xenophobic.....
He actually made the right move but at the time it was criticized (even Biden apologized for misjudging his move)
If you plan to vote for this man you are straight up stupid. Like 2 braloserls dumb

public health response is always a political issue. The outbreak isn't political but how you respond to it and what systems you have in place is political. like do you have free healthcare, is that healthcare funded, have you invested in PPE, how are you sending out public health messages, do you want to go into lockdown etc.
Those are political decisions

but I'm not even talking about just the pandemic, it's what they did before the pandemic by ignoring pandemic warnings when making policy which is some of the biggest failures.
You can't honestly think Trump has been at all helpful in response to the protests or the pandemic

He responded and responded early if you don’t agree with his response that’s cool
I’ve criticized his response throughout the thread

Sure, but he didn't have a plan.
There was a plan (that wouldn't have gone far enough but was at least a starting point) and governments like Trump's dismantled it.
He had no plan and he was punched in the face, that's the issue here Of course we will be lenient and forgiving when a pandemic hits but that only goes so far. The guy had no plan
All Trump had to do was tell his dumbfuck supporters that not wearing masks is for liberal cucks and our case figures would be flatter.
We threw away three months of lockdown because of his stupid anti-science propaganda.
Don't tell me he "wasn't prepared." He was informed and made things worse.
Sure, but he didn't have a plan.

He responded swiftly in mid Jan and early Feb
He also didn’t lobby for marital law to keep everyone in the house and left the power to states to make that call
You’re talking at me now, if you don’t agree with his response that’s fine bro
