Waka Flocka is the real patient zero and start of the "trap sound" in modern terms that we think of in the 2010s to now & their bassline is STILL in the sound
Waka as the rapper
Lex as the literal blueprint sound
Lex also made beats such as Round of Applause which is Waka feat. Drake & did s*** with Rick Ross such as BMF, did the drums on See me Now by Kanye and did a beat on Watch the Throne called HAM (Southside did Illest Muthafucka Alive)
Made 808mafia with Southside & TM88 after Waka 1st or 2nd album
Lex Luger also did all the beats for Wakas 2nd mixtape which was the project right before his debut - which his 2nd mixtape with Lex created the official "trap sound" of the 2010s & laid it all out
Do not talk to me about Future
Do not talk to me about Thug
Do not talk to me about Metro
Do not talk to me about MikeWill
Do not talk to me about anyone before you talk about Waka & Luger
This is facts & crazy how them two, Waka and Luger, are rarely talked about or mentioned since the late 2010s when they are literally the genesis while being massively successful of the same decade - 2010s would not be the same without them AT ALL
Ferrari Boyz collab album by Waka and Gucci in 2011 is a classic btw; and shouts out this video from a few days ago that inspired this thread:
Pay homage to your forefathers
Lex Luger was just 19 & Waka early 20s during Waka's debut album
Even younger in the mixtape (pre albums) days
Legends & Rap royalty

rip slim dunkin
if zoomers and alphas are trying to erase the history waka (and gucci & the insane team of producers) created imma go to jail for knocking skulls
non-album waka erasure been in full force for too many years I will say though. Annoying as f*** that no one seems to have ever listened to more than like 3 projects from waka, flockavelli obviously a classic but the dude released a ton of material way above it. people forget that album is early waka and he very much progressed as a musician in the following 4 years until he attempted to be lyrical then edm-bro-bait
His output from like 2012 on being so uneven hurts how much people should credit flockaveli

it was only not good late mid 2014 onward

triple f life kinda weak imo i liked lurkin and u ain't bout that life and that's it, the original round of applause without drake was better
it was only not good late mid 2014 onward
Oh i disagree personally
I think theres good stuff on some of those projects but theres a lot of low lows that made those projects kind of a chore to get through
Cause these kids won’t even listening to rap yet they still thought black people was dangerous

its gas as a super early trap x pop album. was early as f*** on that bag. but yeah its low on his list only unless we are talking about sales/radio hits. which is usually irrelevant for waka talks tbh
