He was the first rapper that put me onto commes de garcon and undercover. I think his fashion game is slept on too. When you think of fly niggas in rap he never comes to mind, but he was on a different wave than most back then.

cause "what the f*** is goyard nigga"

that's why people don't put him up there in fashion. He was wearing or shouting out brands niggas aint know s*** about or just wasn't f***ing with lol.

Nah that’s a FACT niggas never mention this

Lupe was one of the flyest niggas in the game. Put niggas on that Y-3 s*** too

His second verse on Gold Watch caused a cultural reset lmao

I like Diptyque candles and Maharishi sandals and
Dita sunglasses, Purple Murder Service samples
I like False T-shirts Dover Street is off the handle
Such a good designer Junya Watanabe got damn you
I like Yohji Yamamoto and a Max Roach solo
Leather Gucci belts and Guilty Brotherhood polo's
I like Montblanc pens and Moleskine paper
I like Goyard bags and green Now-or-laters
    Monocle magazine and Japanese manga
    Futura Nosferatus and HTM trainers
I love Street Fighter 2, I just really hate Zangief

God damn that’s a bold statement

I just f***ed with anything that wasn’t mainstream when that came out. They were cool but tbh they didn’t have anything of very much importance and even then artists like Skyzoo & Lupe are prob earlier examples of blog rap.

This s*** unlocked a memory tho thank you lol

me, and, my, crew, we, get, so, damn, down, get, so, damn, down

    you real for mentioning Skyzoo.

He underrated. Salvation is a classic. But I think people dont put him up there cause if his voice, flow, and the fact that how he raps...it can really be hard to follow or catch what he's saying even tho "technically" it shouldn't be.

He's one of the few rappers that I definitely believe when they say they're ghostwriters.

@insertcoolnamehere and @knova exactly my point. Look how many years it took for niggas to catch up. Does he even rap about s*** like that now? If so, it's probably something we'll discover years from now if he's still on that wave

Skyzoo? There was a guy on KTT1 who stanned him lol

Nah yeah Lupe is prob the best choice.

Having a hard time finding someone who fits the nerd characterization other than DOOM but I don’t think he can be truly tied to the blog movement

And I love skyzoo although I haven’t really peeped anything since Dream deferred

The thing about Lupe that f***ed everything up is the fact that....dude changed and flipped his decisions on a f***ing whim just as much as present day Kanye does.

Cause originally it was supposed to be 3 albums and that was it (LUPE.n.d.) but he changed and flipped again. Just like CRS and that Chess Club project s*** that sounded f***ing dope in theory but in hindsight, we probably dodged the bullet.

Atlantic f***ed Lasers up singlehandedly. I remember his blog during that whole thing and we was all just wanting a f***ing date from that album until this came out and we thought everything was gravy.

Fire, SLR came out, and the 2 singles I'm Beamin and The Show Goes On sounded dope to me.

Lasers was deadass the first album I ever physically bought and not just my pops doing it.

Man. never felt buyer's remorse so f***ing bad bruh. But I think what f***ed him up after that was putting more emphasis on the bars instead of the music/songwriting as a whole afterwards. He said it himself on twitter that he don't make "good music" anymore because he focuses too much on the lyrics (e.g. Tetsuo & Youth imo)

they really got people to rally around Lupe and go to Atlantic offices in the midst of Occupy Wall Street. Nowadays people just leak that s***

LOVES ALWAYS SHINES EVERYTIME REMEMBER 2 SMILE

I remember wanting the LASERS black/red/white converse so much too

I remember playing this version of Beautiful Lasers so many times

even after release because i hated the production so much.

trust me, i know exactly how you felt. that s*** hit me like a freight train. it was like somebody i vouched for for years backstabbed me at the height of our friendship. sounds ridiculous, but this music s*** is serious to some of us. i didn't believe it was atlantic because i remember he released a mixtape (ep possibly) of him rapping over edm beats that was in the same universe as what was on lasers. lupe was the culprit that entire time and tried to place blame on atlantic. he tried to use them as a scapegoat and fans ate it up

"impact" is just relevancy for p4k niggas.

Classic to me just means it's a perfect work. Skyzoo has a loyal following, Salvation is perfect album (with the exception of 2 tracks including Popularity) to me.

  • May 20, 2021

my heart been broke for a while, yours been the one keeping me alive

    Bruh.

The one thing about Lasers it gave us one of his best tracks (All Black Everything)

I replayed that s*** on my ipod classic.

I just got bad flashbacks to that whole era after The Cool

Only highlight of that time period was Enemy of the State
