they really got people to rally around Lupe and go to Atlantic offices in the midst of Occupy Wall Street. Nowadays people just leak that s***

LOVES ALWAYS SHINES EVERYTIME REMEMBER 2 SMILE

I remember wanting the LASERS black/red/white converse so much too

I remember playing this version of Beautiful Lasers so many times

even after release because i hated the production so much.

You just brought back memories with that video. Playing maplestory and blasting this while hoping Anonymous destroyed Atlantic Records.

Did we forget The Cool Kids gave us OF's fashion style before OF became huge. Plus they were one of the first hip hop groups to be known about on the internet imo.

The Bake Sale EP and their other mixtapes was the s*** back in those days. It was still purely underground, but you had to be there to remember what it was like. I was only 8 when I first heard them on NBA Live 08 lol

Lupe, Kanye, DOOM, and Pharrell were the Mount Rushmore of the movement imho.

I know Odd Future alone is influenced by all of them.

Everyone discussing Lasers from Lupe in here need to realize that Lupe was on the wrong label(Atlantic)at the wrong time. If you wanted to release Pop Rap with heavy promo at that time, you go to Atlantic. I feel like Lupe just gave up on trying to make Lasers ambitious and just went to make an album that’ll sell and it back fired.

I think he lost some fans and failed to gain any new ones with that one album. Kinda wish Lupe could’ve found a way to get on GOOD/Def Jam but oh well.

man, i miss this era so much

I’ve had an idea to make a “Cool Era” (blog) playlist with the holy trinity being Ye, Pharrell and Lupe

And all the artists they influenced.

I need help remembering artists from the blog era tho

When you seen the Black Mags video play on MTV in the morning and Rap City in the day time they literally only play Black Mags on Rap City for like a week and never played it again

Bake Sale a personal classic for me. The Cool Kids debut might’ve got f***ed over worse than Lasers but they were just so different,I don’t think a major label would’ve signed them at that time. But if they were to release WFRB on time, their story would be different.

  • Lupe, Kanye, Pharrell, The Cool Kids was such an era.
