The late 2000s was really a glorious time for the internet back then with music

It was truly fun, that era is what people think this era is. We’re in the most heavily manufactured era in music history vs when you had regular joes rapping about anything they can think of getting traction on blogs. Way more organic than now

  • May 20, 2021

I don't really f*** with Chris Brown that much besides With You... But this s*** is still f***ing hard down to the Kirby chain

Sad that nowadays, you can just blow up off making memable music or remakes instead of your own music that you put effort into. I tell you man, the internet can be a blessing and a curse sometimes

These songs are so 2011 it's crazy lmao

I’ll be honest,I feel like around 2010-2011 guys like Div,Kids In The Hall got left behind by dudes like KRIT,prime Curren$y,Wiz etc. In ways, them dudes were more refined and just better.

Ay yall f***ed with Pac Div? I don't think they were as good as the others but they were still cool to me

    Pac Div was fire

They were apart of that “new West” movement. That was the transitional period between Game and Kendrick dominance. I feel they were part of the reason Kendrick switched his sound. When Game was hot he was making gangsta s***. When Pac Div, Blu, UNI started buzzing more he became Kendrick Lamar

They really came with that post College Dropout feeling. Borderline backpack type music talking about everyday nigga s***. At one point they were even gonna title their album Grown Kid Syndrome. Church League Champions stayed in rotation back in the day

We used to catch these type videos on MTV right before going to school

    Beautiful time 😢

Yea bruh that was the cool thing about that era

You could discover a fairly unknown artist and watch their ascension in real time

I don’t remember it being like that prior to that era

Charles references Lupe: “no love for the fiasco like a tribe called quest”

Throws a shot at Lupe: “I'm sorry my lines is something that you ain't get
But I do make sense, F*** all that Lupe s***

Charles freestyle over Superstar where he explains the diss: “shout out Lupe, it’s all love I’m just sick of the comparisons” so people were making that connection back then

These are all from Charlie’s’ breakout 2008 tapes, it’s safe to say Lupe was an influence on his work in some ways

Curren$y especially cuz he had that blog rap aesthetic but was keeping up with niggas like Jay Electronica on tracks and doing projects with Ski Beats and Alchemist

Yeah,I think the problem with dudes like Div and to throw another name out there,Mickey Factz,is that their raps and flows just really weren’t sharp enough. They were so different that as a fan of music(especially a young fan like me)you had to pay attention but I think most of the dopest people from that era rose to the top imo

He was definitely a product of his time lmao

Mikey & Chuck destroyed him on his own song. In ways,I think The Cool Kids were probably being coached by lames in the industry who never even succeeded themselves. 0% their fault, they were just young and learnt the game too late imo.

Lupe was def apart of that Kanye and Pharrell wave for a reason.

Dude was very ahead of his time with his taste and interest, Rocky actually just credited Lupe as a fashion influence of his yesterday @op

Lupe Fiasco wrote the nerd rap bible

    Charles Hamilton continued his work

    Chimp1 completed it

Charles was like jesus, Chimp wrote the bible
