He was well off
Looking at the footage of his house, nah nigga was living pretty damn good
Refrigerator stocked to death, mofo got like a whole floor to his own, he never had to worry about anything
It's no problem again, just dk why niggas wanna make him poor so badly..
Reminds me of my irl friends, who claimed they were too, just to brag, until I took em to my home, then they realize being broke isn't something u wanna be or brag about 😂
It's not about making him poor, it's about acting like poor is homelessness or the power out or no running water, they lived in an area past their means so Drake could go to a specific school. I am not pitching poor Drake he had the hardest life, that would be some bullshit. I'm pitching it's crazy to say he just woke up and life was made when he had a job since 14 and was working on music since roughly 16. He clearly put in time, effort and sacrifice into that, people try to downplay bc the circumstance is not (I agree) as dire as other circumstances.
Edit- not sure i explained well when i say house split in two i mean him and his mom lived in a house that the other half was someone else living in.

I feel that I'm from Jersey we had to save up to be poor.

same s*** over here
you see a mf dressing in nothing but flashy designer brands they mostly come from a broke household
and then you have the artsy kids who dress like 1970s hobos with dirty ass hair, dirty ripped jeans and f***ed up shoes with soles hanging off. Whole time they come from multi million dollar homes
Mob Ties Out Now
Nonstop Out Now
Yes Indeed Out Now
Never Recover Out Now
Going Bad Out Now
Literally yes it was necessary. Are you stupid? Are you dumb?
Could do without all these songs lol
Could do without all these songs lol
Brother I love you but Drake isn't doing anything that a lot of rappers do and to Drake's cred imo looking at the lyrics he has always maintained it's not me it's the homies. Like most rappers not in a gang or set. Drake alluding to anything is always Chubbs, Wassas, HA.
"To be real I never did one crime, but my brothers could never caption that line at all"
"To keep it real, I wasn't really gangster 'til now
I was livin' on a cloud, I was quiet as a mouse
I was in the club gettin' lost in the crowd
Wasn't doin' what I wanted to, I'd do what was allowed"
"If Chubbs has on a Chanel side bag, you don't wanna see him reach inside"
"Big '81, but I don't own a Harley I ride in Mercedes with Shane"
I feel that I'm from Jersey we had to save up to be poor.
C it's like for real no diss to him, I think for example Travis or Kanye were also well off, or Tyler, but they don't intentionally try to claim they were 0s
Like if Drake just made Dem melodic songs, why was there even any need for him to prove he was poor
it wouldn't really matter with his subject matter tbh

I do agree, honestly i think it's 2 things
1. Drake is a fan full stop. This man loves hip hop look at who has sampled worked with and thrown up over the years.
2. Hip Hops initial treatment of him tainted his view of the game or the sport whatever you want to dress it up as, so he leaned further into the homies, his run, money. Here we are for better and for worse. I f*** with Drake's "fake mob songs" I'm not that guy at all but friends, family, neighborhoods, favors etc... I know what it's like to be around it but not in it and so do a lot of Black Americans / oppressed groups economically / legally. Circumstance is a motherfucker.

exactly man
Like the way they glamorize being poor is so weird
But put em in actual poor conditions, they chicken out, they don't want it no more
Like u said, it's very easy just to spot em by their mentality alone, how spoiled they are, how entitled they are
I think when u grow up, from that poverty and u been through that "expensive clothes for image" phase u realize that u don't need that s*** anymore to validate yourself, the circumstances you dealt with and overcame, have done so
And that's a life path and lesson u can't ever buy, it's a blessing like Kendrick said
Plus ur overall values and the way u c life is just completely different too
At least how I've seen it with folks that grew up wealthy, it's like a completely diff world and seeing/feeling things
They are not similar even from a public standpoint.
Kendrick has familial ties he was raised in the middle of Compton
Drake is only associated to whatever’s in Toronto through professional lineage
The only way you can spin this is if you think the public viewpoint of gang relations is the black/whire “is in a gang” vs “isn’t in a gang” which no one in the public actually thinks

I grew up solidly middle class, maybe even upper middle class. Never had to worry about anything financially, but i grew up around people who were struggling. I would never downplay the fact that i had it good growing up lmao absolute clown behavior

Did u read the lyrics u posted?
To keep it real, I wasn't really gangster 'til now
He legit is playing mob boss lol
Also don’t know why that post triggered u to send me a bunch of drake lyrics. Just said I ain’t like those songs lol.

Literally yes it was necessary. Are you stupid? Are you dumb?
No it wasnt necessary but with d***riders like this empowering you who needs enemies
Niggas gon treat him like chance the rapper when rico’s and bulletholes start happening
This will be a case study for the ages when its all said and done lol. Niggas should have learned from Pac ironically
Absolutely lol it kept people engaged with his person.
Just the discussion what he is and isnt makes him popular.
If you are just a straight up f*** up people dont care. If you are just an universally liked guy people stop caring. You gotta be just controversial enough to have one party on your side defending you from the haters
What street facade bro was an actor in a wheelchair
People think he has a street facade bc he got Hitman money… that’s just power. Money can buy anything including nuclear bombs don’t make nobody hard.
Hey great project btw
Drake likes to play roles though. I’ve never looked at it any other way. Even the whole culture vulture thing is just him acting again. It’s really not a problem but I can see why people who actually live the life Drake imitates get offended by him

Even if that house was split in two, the house was still HUGE. It kills me that this is reasoning when I lived in a 3 bedroom apartment with 11 people when I was Drake’s age. He wasn’t poor or struggled. I had a job since 14 also and have been doing music since 12.
Drake had access to more and better opportunities more than likely supported by his immediate community. It’s why if you compare his upbringing to Rocky or even Kendrick, it doesn’t compare. Yachty is just like Drake. He grew up in a white suburb in Georgia and all his friends were the ones from the hood, Yachty actually hated going outside lolol
