Batman The Animated Series might have aired on a children's network but it's really for anyone. Kids or adult it's just good stories first and foremost. Avatar and Regular Show too
I mean I’ve seen Avatar and the Batman show and both are def for kids man
I’m not referring to shows aimed for kids that adults can watch to. There’s a difference between something like Cowboy Bebop and Avatar, where Avatars sense of humor and action and overall characterization is very much centered towards kids or younger people in a similar way to how the MCU markets to kids in their style, but just so happens to also have an adult fanbase.
Like ultimately it’s telling that even shows like My Hero Academia or DBZ, which are supposed to be for kids, feel less catered to them than Avatar/Batman
American animation has to be for adults to take it seriously.
Pretty much all American animation is comedy or for kids.
this lol.
animation has to be a medium in the west instead of being a genre. We also don't have the culture for that either. Superhero s*** is the only thing close to anime culture
Hey Arnold > whatever you favorite American cartoon is tbh
I remembered liking it alright as a kid, but I rewatched the whole thing a few years ago as an adult and now I think it's GOAT tier.
From the very first episode, when they're riding the bus in those fruit costumes, there's just something different about the vibe of the show. The unpolished animation, the jazzy soundtrack, the mood of it, they really don't make them like that anymore.
teen titans no lol. It literally wears it's anime influence on its sleeves
I am confused as to why a show can't be better than what it was influenced by.

it didn't even get a finished ending. I'm just s***ting on ya lol, it is one of my fav shows, but Teen Titans Go is better
Family guy plot and character development next level. Light Yagami looks like childs play compared to Peter Griffin
Bojack Horseman definitely a top 5 animated show of all time in part because it focused on issues that are so quintessentially American and never tried to be anything else.

it's a cultural thing for sure
over here, "animated"<->"for children"
Well, Americans have a rep for being dumb as s***, so yeah
Idk any 2D American animation studios that are still around tbh. Most if not all the shows you named, out source their animation to S. Korea

Avatar is amazing, genuinely good animation too, which is something you can’t say about majority of anime.
Castlevania anime is technically american too?
Avatar was actually animated in Korea tho
Ed, Edd & Eddy >
I might be one of the few people in the world to not like that show but that and catdog legit made me stop watching cartoons

The Poison Ivy show on HBO Max and Solar Opposites on Hulu are hilarious as well.
