You sound mad bro
before some s***posting dumbfuck says it, yes i know this isn’t a new thing especially if you’ve been on the internet for a long while, but the way we as a society (well at least american society) have become so numb to everything that’s going on has reached psychopathic levels.
we’ve really normalized tens of thousands dying every day, kids being shot up in schools, tents for the homeless being lined up on the street in the freezing cold while we walk past them without a f*** in the world (while the police destroy their tents and tell them to gtfo on top of that), people dying without basic medicine.
like, where the f*** is our empathy, thoughtfulness, basic human f***ing decency gone? this is some psychopathic behavior that should not be so normalized like it is right now. this s*** is pathetic that we’ve come to this.
TL;DR: all of us have become lou bloom in nightcrawler and it’s really scary
Empathy and human decency are 21st century contrived falsities. Humans are trash, have been trash and always will be trash. It’s our cognitive DNA to act in such a manner.
we are in the best of times actually
This is the greatest time to be alive, statistically speaking. We’re just becoming desensitized.
You click on a video that’s advertised as “funny” on Instagram, you end up seeing somebody get killed.
People don’t know what they’re looking at anymore.

Climate change is gonna f*** us up was so hard
Also tensions have became massively high and will stay high for a long time trump has done a lot damage to American democracy
Here is hoping for uneventful 4 years
Capitalism
Also the fact that people don't care enough regardless, it's power in general too.
I think part of it really is this overexposure to the sheer complexity and scale of modern industrial civilization, mediated by things like the internet
in the past, the world was probably more barbaric but you were enclosed within your sphere of influence (usually your local community), where you could actually act on the terrible things you were exposed to
now, we're reminded everyday of the problems that are often beyond the reach of the average person, both because of geographic barriers and because of the sheer magnitude. the best antidote seems to be a "return" to the dynamics of the past, meaning organizing and taking action within your local community
edit: and to add, even in the previous century there were examples of large problems being subject to social backlash and widespread knowledge (i.e. the reaction to "the jungle" by upton sinclair), but the rate of exposure was much slower and easier to adapt/respond to
you posting this on the wrong website. lot of people here part of the problem lol.
Here we go again
Act like that's not at the root of the Western illness and dissatisfaction
Act like that's not at the root of the Western illness and dissatisfaction
Another cause of western dissatisfaction is people abandoning values and morals completely
Capitalism
this is true too though, the price of reconciling capital accumulation and its consequences for the average beneficiary/supporter of this system is having to abandon your empathy
I don’t watch death videos or things of that nature. I’m not desensitized at all
Don’t know if it’s good or bad sometimes
Another cause of western dissatisfaction is people abandoning values and morals completely
Please talk to these mfs man.
