Death & Destruction sounds sooo Oasis to me
So the "fans" really really idolize pinkerton? Don't know if it's just because it was y first listen but I don't see it
well yeah it’s a very raw vulnerable album like no other does and also technically speaking in terms of composition it is the richest weezer album, like in terms of guitar work and chords stuff

think this the most oasis song he ever attempted, this was during his lockdown era from pinkerton leading to green trying to capture the perfect pop song

That's fair tbh I do like the composition and production on the album, I just feel like the lyrics are so miserable at times theyre just annoying
I guess à lot of people on online communities can resonate with that but I don't think it's my type of vulnerable tbh
don’t get your comment on pink triangle?
Idk I think it's a weird song, like that's such a dumb subject matter to me
maybe because I know a creepy guy irl who wrote a song like that actually

well he also wanted to be taken seriously by critics so this plays into it
but idk i don’t agree, i could never bash a such open book lyrics themed album wether i relate or not, some s*** are super real like the good life written from his hospital bed
some stuff are romanticized for the factor of storytelling which rivers still does a lot today, it was just his take to be as far out edgy as he could be to break away from the image he was given during blue album or what not, kinda

tbh for me the appeal has honestly always been how ugly the thoughts on the album really are. Weezer from the get go has been about subverting the typical expectations for a rock band and with Pinkerton he offered maybe some of the ugliest depths of his mind in a way most people would be really terrified to (he himself hated the record after it came out for years). Just a type of raw misery you'll never find anywhere else though I can see why that would be pretty off-putting, by it's very nature it's a very off-putting experience.

another maladroit day for grimes

yeah that’s better put than me
i LOVE green but it’s not often we get an ugly themed lyrics album as pinkerton
while green is just very common, rivers admited he would just come up with whatever for that

just too good

Yeah tbh putting everything in context does help to understand it a bit, I'm not out right dismissing everything tbh, I respect it, it just personally didn't do much for me, except for the songs I liked which were very good imo, Good Life and No Other One were very touching
just too good
this song been growing on me, i blame you
That was interesting, i definitely didn't expect it lol
you didn’t like it?

honestly I find the reason me and so many others throw on Pinkerton automatically when in melancholic moods is that you really can't find a record that completely indulges in the parts of yourself nobody ever wants to talk about without it being over-the-top concept s***. Just unfiltered sadness and ugliness which is depressing as s*** but no other pop/rock record really comes close, maybe Nick Drake or Elliott Smith? but they're in pretty different lanes.

the maladroit agenda..............

It is very off putting, actually I think I know why I didn't like it
It just reminds me of that guy I knew my god what a f***ing a******, hes the type to say everything said on this record, ffs that guy litteraly wrote a song on the same subject as Pink Triangle
he was a creep fr, he never showered and he would always tease me for liking rap because he could play the guitar in middle school
Guy doesn't have an ounce of talent either, and he's a Nirvana and Radiohead fanatic can you imagine that

to me it’s just how intense he puts it out like how the music matches the dramatic of the storytelling, it’s so dramatic in a way that sucks you in like nowhere else it’s like if you would take his word on how he puts it out through pinkerton it’s the end of the world and i love that feeling for how immature it is, it makes you feel
OK but we really gotta talk about those guitar solos???
no matter how across the sea makes you feel the solo bridge is like top 5 weezer sections oat
