Yeah it just really feels like this dramatic over the top opening to let you know the album is gonna be special and experiment a bit.

i was reluctant as to put spider at the end cause the angel and the one is so special and with that atmospheric it ends a weezer album quite uniquely, but it flows in so smoothly with the synths that follows the mood of angel and the one ending

glad you liked it and yeah overall it’s far less goofy and upbeat far more serious album put this way but so good

you think so? greatest man is goat song but i feel opening the album with it is a little much and over the top no? there’s a lot going on in it, feel pork and beans helps pick it up and then leave some good energy for greatest man to take on, but id have to give that order a try

the story sounds to be the one that inspired mexican fender

maybe the songs are related?

i actually really like this... something about the way he sings this over very little guitar attack and such specific storytelling personal details makes it sound like a steam of consciousness i love it

Another Bright Eyes song that reminds me a bit of Weezer. Like I could see some variation of this being like a Maladroit leftover.

love this tho, super cool instrumental, usually s*** with vibraphone gets me

it’s one of those things, kinda like steel guitar, steelpan, theremin... upright bass too

Yeah I am. Funny enough that Billy Cobb guy seems to be a fan of both Weezer and Bright Eyes so I’ve noticed him meshing their influences together in his solo work and even some of the stuff he did as Zerwee.

you should check this out speaking of fanmade s***

some selected fans got together and made the most complete take we could get of them abandonned songs from the black hole, the original space rock opera before it turned into pinkerton, tracklist respected, roles respected with robots voices and female singers for the roles attributed instead of high pitched vocals like rivers would do on his demos or other fans do when attempting this lol

some of the male singers sounds a bit too broadway... and drums are digital but there’s amazing work and detail put into it like we’ll never get again, our closest peak of how the project would’ve come out if not scrapped

I’ve listened to this already, I love Zerwee and Zerwee 2, but for some reason Billy Cobb’s voice just doesn’t do it for me, it actually gets really annoying to listen to sometimes...
