    this demo is so curious... it’s really good

    the story sounds to be the one that inspired mexican fender

    maybe the songs are related?

    i actually really like this... something about the way he sings this over very little guitar attack and such specific storytelling personal details makes it sound like a steam of consciousness i love it

    What is the part from 36-50 from? That melody is so familiar.

    i think softies was most likely part of the og red tracklist now we have the full demo i was tempted to add it in but the recording wouldn’t match the high production value of the rest of red so would sound off

    nice song tho

    Wish there were demo versions of Perfect Situation and Damage In Your Heart like the Haunt You Every Day and Such a Pity ones we have now. I’m relistening to Make Believe and I’m kinda confused now in retrospect why it’s so hated. It’s nowhere near as bad as Raditude and not as bland as Hurley and to a lesser extent Green and Black. It’s for sure a pop album, but the songwriting is still solid. Most songs on here could be reworked into great ones. Most of these melodies are incredibly pleasant and very rarely grating or corny. Pardon Me and My Best Friend grew on me. It certainly would have much much better if it reflected its demos more but it’s totally fine as their big commercial “sell out” record.

    And speaking of pleasant melodies, I always wished Rivers would eventually use this melody for something.

    haha that’s amazing, i don’t meet lot of bright eyes fans
    first zerwee certified classic man

    you should check this out speaking of fanmade s***

    !https://youtu.be/0Agkl-nVSSk

    some selected fans got together and made the most complete take we could get of them abandonned songs from the black hole, the original space rock opera before it turned into pinkerton, tracklist respected, roles respected with robots voices and female singers for the roles attributed instead of high pitched vocals like rivers would do on his demos or other fans do when attempting this lol

    some of the male singers sounds a bit too broadway... and drums are digital but there’s amazing work and detail put into it like we’ll never get again, our closest peak of how the project would’ve come out if not scrapped

    @Vagabonds @grimes @Terry @Key1256 @Whatsup2 @Paddington @cotton_dockers @Unwound @VizeGuy

    Gonna be honest, I can’t really get into it. Your observation that it his voice sounded broadway was spot on. He lacks the vulnerable sometimes rough around the edges quality that Rivers has. They did a great job putting this all together, but it’s too clean for my taste.

    so like i was saying during this tour they had this thing going on where they would have a spot for a random person in the audience to come on stage to sing undone with the band, as it was captured during this live in japan performance from which i posted the this is such a pity performance:

    !https://youtu.be/QTHKAhRehPY

    (weird upload i know but other ones are down)

    you can watch the whole show if you want anyway, it came with bts footage i think they intended it to be a dvd, it also has a performance of island in the sun totally acoustic with rivers going near the crowd:

    !https://youtu.be/TWT3VgrlXJQ

    great show actually, good set list too and renditions of some songs, performance of don’t let go is banging

    during a stop for the tour they once got a guy on stage who seemed to know his s*** and instead of singing undone verse he went for.. blast off! what a legend:

    !https://youtu.be/gNG3RPbxz0M

    what’s funny is a lot of this set up the red album in hindsight: band members taking leads on songs as it would become a theme of the album but also the public coming on stage which they would expand on for the red album tour but much like it went from band members taking leads on tour to them bringing their songs and singing them on album that also went bigger: from one person from the audience to get up and sing undone now they organized at each stop local musicians of all sorts of instruments to join stage with the band for island in the sun, phenomenal:

    !https://youtu.be/XRB8OLYcWXk

    i mean just look at that thumbnail...

    my goats, yall are sleeping and uncreative

    @deepsleep @Key1256 @Terry @HeyFella

    funny how this tour kinda was the inception of Red in how all the members of the band kinda took over tracks of their own. The clip of the fan playing Blast Off is amazing.

    i was reluctant as to put spider at the end cause the angel and the one is so special and with that atmospheric it ends a weezer album quite uniquely, but it flows in so smoothly with the synths that follows the mood of angel and the one ending

    glad you liked it and yeah overall it’s far less goofy and upbeat far more serious album put this way but so good

    you think so? greatest man is goat song but i feel opening the album with it is a little much and over the top no? there’s a lot going on in it, feel pork and beans helps pick it up and then leave some good energy for greatest man to take on, but id have to give that order a try

    @Vagabonds @Choking my red lovers, you should give my alternative tracklist a shot it’s a vastly different more mellow result but highkey genuis material

    what’s the alternate track list
