Its a band, theyre very weezer influenced. Their greatest hits album is amazing but they fell off after that

on the tour of make believe rivers started to have the other guys sing some songs, brian would do why bother for example:

rivers would have fun on stage and this brought new ideas for the next album - i think rivers was just tired of doing the same experiment so he wanted to switch it up

on the red album he had the other guys all bring one song, so all the band members sings on it and have their own written song - pat wilson the drummer has automatic which he wrote sings and plays guitar on, rivers does the drums on it

scott shriner (the bassist since maladroit and still to this day) came up with cold dark world bass but rivers wrote the whole song for him to sing on

brian bell the guitarist wrote thought i knew and sings on it

there’s no songs from rivers that are about girls on it and no guitar solos as these two elements were attributed as the weezer standard and rivers wanted to switch it up

fun fact the reason rivers had a mustache during this era wasn’t out of meme factor but bc his father had one (frank cuomo was an amazing jazz drummer i already posted about that)

Ithaka bro... please check out brand new. The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me is my favorite album of all time. Kind of far removed from Weezer influence at that point, but it’s so dope especially if you like Modest Mouse.

This early track of theirs always reminded me of weezer
