that s*** he does every time, the summer elaine verses melody on white (2016) goes back to 2002 originally, etc
oh yeah even the blue songs demos still has rivers trying to imitate kurt vocally lol thankfully ric prolly told him to tone it down

I think ima do the same concept flipflop did and do tiers cus Its super hard for me to rank discogs
So first tier: Blue, Pinkerton, white, ewbaite, pacific daydream
Second tier: Red, make believe, maladroit, raditude, death to false metal

rivers was shredding the f*** out on these demos man i love them ngl
undone with the samples instead of the chat is soooooo dope but they couldn’t clear that out obviously
one of them sample is from Star Wars so that was dead from the get go 
u can hear the pixies influence stronger too

that’s so cooli really think it’s the most pop song we’ll get, it comes off more poppy than it is on first listen but when you let it sink in the real weezer cracks comes through and it then sounds so evident and natural and genuine, pure rivers - album is heavily inspired by gershwin and harry nilsson so it should be amazing
lets not take for granted the amazing run weezer have had recently as the second coming about to about, what a stellar body of work for this late in their career
it makes you even revalue the lower stuff in hindsight - it ever was that bad, just funny
That’s definitely true especially the chorus, I love the popiness though, the production fits the melodies so well. Those influences sound amazing, him doing the nilsson style on the album cuts is gonna be insane. I hope we get a little sunshine pop rivers too bc if there’s ever been a better time to go full brian it’s now ! The strings on this snippet
and definitely, and it feels like their second wind has only gotten stronger and culminated to this point where rivers is still so prolific but his focus is so sharp. This project through van weezer n the acoustic album is gonna be a whole golden era itself
