oddly enough unlike some other weezer albums i feel this single lives up great pass the album experience, it still goes imo and starts it off so great overall, the rollout and album

It’s arguably the best song so far tbh

Nothings ever gonna surpass Beverly Hills in terms of the iconic weezer song, but this is definitely one of their best attempts

disagree tbh and kinda hate that it’s so easy for weezer to pull it off for these kind of fans to fall into that - oh it’s orchestra so it’s more of what should be perceived as mature and serious music so it’s flat out goated
but still amazing at what it aimed and a top album - you gotta be crazy to completely right off pd

I don’t know if this totally fair cause I’ve already seen old heads who don’t like it. This isn’t just classic Weezer but with an orchestra, it’s almost a totally new direction for them. Songs like Numbers and Bird With a Broken Wing are extravagant ballads and sure Rivers has dipped his toes into that before but never to this extent.

The production generally on this is just so tight and the album itself flows together better than pretty much anything else they’ve ever done. I think it’s totally reasonable to view this as Top 4 without it coming from a place of rejecting their more fun pop oriented stuff or perceiving this as simply more “mature” than it. It’s Top 4 for me and you know that’s not my attitude. I mean c’mon man, the album seemed to make you cry last night. It managed to be that powerful.

On Bird with a broken wing

Like to love p much every song so far (besides mirror image, das a skip) but aside from the single, my favs so far are Numbers, Grapes of Wrath and Screens

Mirror Image to me has grown on me a ton. That ending bit on it is one of the most odd production shifts they’ve ever done turning this lavish dramatic piece into an iPhone like quality recording of Rivers singing about his time with his wife. Idk, I’d give that one more of a shot.

I think OKH is gonna be the better overall album. EOTG and BOTE are super hard though so who knows at this point.

im not downplaying the album it moved me and it’s beautifully crafted and paced together, im just bothered of how some people have decided it was gonna be the best either way bc of how it was sold - yes it’s tightly mixed but if the single was on pd it would’ve been trashed either way, it’s this whole conception of what weezer should be and if they’re doing it this way even if it’s not classic weezer - of course okh isn’t but it’s what someone who praises ewbaite want, very musicianship work that because it has guitar instrumental tracks or bc it has orchestra everywhere which we associated to the most highest form of art, it’s great no matter what but a pop album can’t be as great bc we are condescending over it and a song like FLS should never exist

look at this guy for example

reacts to amfs and likes it and takes a dig at FLS saying “it’s not.... funny noises it doesn’t sound like it was for weezer” and the fact he uses billy coeb as transition music enforces where im coming from, he just followed what billy spreads about those two albums as if it’s the Bible on how weezer should one is flat out bad and the other is flat out great and it feels that it’s decided beforehand based off of how things should be, a good song is a good song no matter under what is dropped, both pd and okh are equally outstanding pieces for where they go and shouldnt be held back because of some agenda

that’s just where im nitpicking on and bothers me, not here to spread negativity either way and okh has closed any chances of the rest of the year for any more AOTY contenders, weezer won

I forgot about the beautiful guitar in "spider" both acoustic and couple seconds of electric

"Cuz I'm in pain just like the spider"

"Give me strength to see me through"
