nah i get what you mean! teal is such a funny first door to the band but anyone is welcome to their legacy

white album is the best bridge, it’s modern weezer and new sounds but also heavy throwbacks to their old school traditional sounds so you get the best of both worlds within a recent album no skips on it and easy hooks on first listen all over the place

ah ok, thank you for the recommendation. i love a catchy album with no skips, it’s rare i find albums like that.

also, not me being roasted over the teal album being my first weezer album haha, it’s actually because the guy i was talking to put me onto the album. otherwise, sadly, i wouldn’t even know about weezer!

but thanks so so much. im excited to listen to the white album and learn more about their legacy! i know they’re amazing.

& yes, i appreciate the lyrics in no scrubs being performed just as the original. im glad weezer is confident in themselves to not feel like they had to switch the words to match gender norms.

im so confident in you f***ing with the white album that i ain’t even linking you any youtube links of any songs from it just go right into it, you’re gonna love it from start to finish!

oh we just being cheeky over the teal, it doesn’t shock me tbh it was such a massive surprise hit for the band! we got that guy to be thankful to them as he got some good taste thats a shame tho, that’s why im here to push this thread, weezer is on the low the greatest act still going from the 90s

yeah i remember rivers said that he wasn’t sure how to approach that one and he saw some random tweet saying if you’re a dude and you’re gonna sing no scrubs you better own up to the lyrics and not switch it up! he loved that and went with it that’s my goat

cant wait to get your feedback on white

ima relisten to it and try to work something with a good balanced flow and transition possible

that’s how i worked my alt red, my rule always comes down to: not going the easy route of stacking bangers on one side and ballads on another, there’s no creativity or challenge to that and also try to pick the ones where the ending leads the best onto the intro of the follow up, or gives a good ending for the other one to be set up in a good way

Gonna be heading back home on the 6th, so hopefully you work that out then. Will be fun to listen to while driving back.

Is OK Human gonna be like a Radiohead influenced album? I like that title.

i think rivers looked up to that album while writing it as like he prolly considers ok computer as a masterpiece or at least the general consensus is that it’s a masterpiece so he took it for inspiration, so that’s why he most likely named it like that as the placeholder title and when they just went with that

from there on im not sure what other links there will be, if the cover art will have some references to ok computer or some of the lyrics (far as i know it doesn’t, but some lyrics do mention george orwell and 1984 and thom was into that s*** too see the song 2+2=5 so there’s that) but musically i don’t think it will sound anything like ok computer as ok human is entirely a symphonic orchestra album without any guitars, arranged by rivers himself

the album is being referenced as the masterpiece so it will prolly be moving, it shares that with ok computer!

a total new experience for any of us either way, super hyped

  • Jan 4, 2021

it’s funny bc the title ok human outside of the reference alone is somewhat SO weezer
