People would make up narratives to favor Kendrick in any scenario, thats the point.
Works in Drake side that he had the energy to confront not only Kendrick, but names like Weeknd, and smaller ones like Future, Ross, Asap and Metro
One thing I will say this whole back and forth made everyone who came at Drake EXCEPT for Kendrick look like bums. All of them combined weren’t able to do what Kendrick did solo.
How are you even trying to draw an equivalence between this and everything Kanye has done and said over the years, which is why he's where he is right now?
How can Drake's reputation be tarnished because of this beef? What exactly has Kendrick proven? The nastiest allegations he threw at Drake were not only flat-out denied by Drake but also by every single woman people tried to being up as way to validate those allegations. You're also silly if you think this beef means black people all of a sudden don't f*** with Drake anymore or won't listen to his music or cop tickets for his shows.
The year will end and y'all would have spent yet another year listening to Drake's music more than any other rapper's music. Y'all will end the year having talked about him more than any other rapper. And Drake don't need y'all to take him seriously. His music will keep doing what it does, meanwhile his involvement in other spaces will carry on being unaffected by any of this.
Why do you think the allegations about women have to be true for this to damage his rep?
If you go back to @ryuH's post he was obviously talking about how people view Drake's position in the culture. Even if he's successful he'll always be known as the guy that got Ja Rule'd by Kendrick. It didn't have to be this way. I know you think Drake is perfect but he's made some objectively bad decisions these past few years, and his reputation would be better if he hadn't.
You more than anyone should realize Drake is more than just his album sales. You know there's more at stake than just "well people will still listen to his next album!" Drake is supposed to be a leader in hip hop. He shouldn't be sneak dissing a black woman who was shot, being texting buddies with little girls (and no I'm not calling him a pedo), and cosplaying as a mob boss even though he's from the suburbs. What you Drake stans don't realize is that he wouldn't have as many haters if he took his position as a leader more seriously. But you guys are so apathetic to everything he does y'all can't even fathom why we want him to do better.
I know I'll just get dismissed as being a stupid Kendrick stan though
but I'm just giving you some food for thought

There’s no point of even trying to have a discussion with some of the stans because an automatic defense mechanism goes up like people can’t have constructive criticism of an artist. It isn’t always rooted in hatred. I think it’s more than fair to say that not everyone just is “sick of Drake winning” and do have valid critiques of his music and ultimately would like to see more out of him that they know he’s capable of or would rather see him be true to himself than cosplaying as someone he’s not

Dot had Ron of help as well - lots of momentum from having people switch side on Drake, using bots as well a having 20 media people speak for and on him.
Had to rally the while west and play the Blackness card for the win as well. I mean it's a win..but this wasn't just Dot.

Critiques like yours are disingenuous and never to be taken seriously because it comes from a place of bad faith. Drake has said way worse things on songs on past albums that y'all didn't care this much about or harp on about. He's simply at a point in his career now where y'all over-exaggerate anything he says and does and paint it as more nefarious than it actually is because y'all are sick of seeing him do this s*** at the highest level and want him to get away.
Y'all blew up the Stallion line on Her Loss and made it seem like he told Megan Thee Stallion to go off herself or something. Eminem spits a more direct bar at her and y'all don't bat an eyelash. Other rappers have spat bars about her that were way worse and y'all also didn't give a f***. Even on the song where he sent the shots at Rihanna, he told you why he did that: she'd been talking s*** about him behind the scenes and it got back to him and he told her she needed to stop doing that because he knows a lot of s*** about her he can expose. That's something he also expounded on on Red Button when he mentions her best friend Melissa and says she's the only one that could maybe stop him from doing that. Even when he brought up Serena William's husband, that wasn't for no reason. That guy has been talking s*** about Drake for YEARS on social media and throwing shade at him. Drake finally addresses the f***shit and y'all twist it to mean he's jealous Serena moved on. So, you mean, he magically waited for 5 years after she'd gotten married and had a kid and just woke up one day and decided to talk s*** about her husband for no good reason?
That's another thing y'all do with him. You never even ask: WHY is this guy doing this? Is there any backstory there? Could something have happened to make him do this? Even with the Esperanza Spalding line. He didn't diss that woman. Away from Home is a song that has him rapping from a reflective and introspective perspective. He keeps going back to the refrain of "I remember" because all those lines he's spitting are about how he felt about things that happened in the past. Anyone who isn't being a disingenuous f*** can listen and understand that. Y'all heard him mention her name and immediately jumped to "Drake is a raging misogynist! He hates Esperanza Spalding! He's attacking her on his album!"
The fact is y'all have already made up your minds about Drake. Anything he does or says will be twisted to be made to seem like the most nefarious thing ever while y'all let other rappers get away with saying the worst things. Miss me with that whole bullshit about "we hold Drake to a higher standard than X artist because he aspires to be the GOAT." That's just a cop out because Cole and Kendrick also say crazy s*** on songs that y'all don't give a f*** about.
Drake never stopped rapping/singing about real s*** in his music. Songs like Slime You Out, Bahamas Promises, Tried Our Best, Drew a Picasso, All the Parties, Away from Home, Polar Opposites, Red Button The Shoe Fits, Wick Man and others have him rapping and singing about real s*** but y'all just don't care to listen to it anymore because apparently, him rapping/singing about his actual life and actual things going on in it is now stale and immature. He can't help anyone who feels that way. All he can do is do what he can do.
The criticisms about Drake have never been fair. The same older Drake music you're praising now as being more mature was also harshly criticized for other reasons in the past but now, it's magically the best music in the world because the Drake critiques have to find a way to endure.
The people who can't find any more usefulness in Drake's music can always stick to the older Drake music they feel is so much better or stop listening to him altogether. He'll be just fine. The people who still f*** with his music will support him and that'll have to suffice. All this back and forth about what he isn't doing right is tiring and a complete waste of time for everybody.
If you're not going to critique everybody else for doing something, stop critiquing the top guy for doing it and saying your reason for doing that is because you hold him to a "higher standard." A standard where you never give him credit for anything he's done or is doing and only ever discredit and overly-critique every single thing he says and does.

Posts like this will never not register as stupid lmao.

thegreatdivine is probably the biggest ride or die Drake stan so I know I'm fighting an uphill battle but she's also one of the few that I think is being sincere instead of just trolling, so I'm hoping I can legitimately get her to understand the problem a lot of people have with post-Views Drake
you call every post that criticizes drake stupid
It's a classic manipulative tactic to call everything that disagrees with your view stupid

he gave 10 people ways for them to rollout their next projects and they’re gonna take that opportunity lol
gonna be years of this

J Cole wanted to take on this leadership role and showed himself to be weak.
The 2pac king that Kendrick boasts about so much has already been falsely accused of rape. Rap won't have leaders, there's no politics in this s***, since you can accuse someone else of pedophilia, and the public will still clap

Lol. Stop with this Drake is a victim s***. I just called you out for painting Drake as a victim of false allegations when he's the one that started this s*** with Family Matters and you never responded.
ktt2.com/kendrick-vs-drake-j-cole-beef-thread-32568288/24077
This is the exact s*** I'm talking about. If Drake played his hand a little smarter he wouldn't have the whole world calling him a pedophile. But he didn't, and now Papi's Angels have to play damage control. I don't see how y'all aren't tired of doing all this for a grown man that should know better by now but whatever
Like just ask yourselves. Would the "public clap" if Kendrick accused Cole of being a pedophile? Ofc they wouldn't. It only worked on Drake because of his multiple instances of having inappropriate relationships with women. Y'all know you should blame Drake for this but you don't want to go against your papi so instead you just blame it on the idea that people only bought Kendrick's allegation because they're jealous of Drake's success.
Feel like I’m in a super small minority now of not being a delusional stan but also wanting Drake to make good music and come back from this
Drake should disappear for a year. Be with his people, make an undisputed great album.
Kendrick should keep doing what he's been doing. Drop another classic and go on tour.
Everyone loves a good comeback. He just gotta comeback with some undeniable music and he’ll be fine. The usual suspects will hate but respect it

Why does he gotta go away for a year tho? Lmao if i’m in his position I don’t see any benefit in a break that long.
Those false prophet bars have aged horribly and I’m not even sure why he’d try to take that angle in the first place. Only way I could see that even working is if Drake himself was the one championing that and Kendrick was the pretender in that regard. Just seems not only tone deaf but really not even understanding fundamentally what a lot of people care about when it comes to substance and hip hop. I love Drake but I’m not going to pretend like he doesn’t really have s*** to talk about most of the time that goes beyond the surface so to call out someone who has gone out of their way to go in depth with their music (not even getting into all Kendrick does irl to support his home) just really hits the nail on the head for your last point
Kendrick really studied Drake, while Drake really didn't study Kendrick at all. You'd think 10+ years of going back and forth would make Drake come more prepared. I think this was also obvious when Drake kept mentioning how he's going on vacation now. He just came off a long tour. He should've did all this when he was actually prepared, but I think this is when his ego came into play and he felt like this would be nothing for him. He really didn't think this through.
There's so much ammo against Drake. Meet the Grahams to me wasn't a huge expose because everything Kendrick talked about has already been said about Drake multiple times. Hell, it's been said about him on these forums alone, the alleged drinking problem, gambling problems, pedo stuff, parading Dennis around, womanizing, etc. I'm not sure how Drake didn't see any of this coming. All of it has been said about him throughout the years.
If Drake actually studied Kendrick, he could've spun it like Kendrick is a hypocrite. Using the black community by saying all complexions are beautiful or that natural black women are beautiful yet always messing with white girls. Or for years using the black plight for his advancement, but the moment the black community calls upon him, he says he's not their savior. Do I believe this stuff? No. But he could've spun it. But I don't think he had the depth to even think of this stuff during this beef. He didn't take it serious.
It's like the Pusha T beef made him regress, instead of get smarter.

a year is too long i’d say like 6 months
if these features weren’t slated to drop + that pnd and friends show I would’ve said a year

He hasn't given people the opportunity to miss him. Hate is at an all time high right now and he really hasn't taken a break in a decade. If he comes back in a year with an undeniable album, showing people that he is still just as capable as he was in 2015/2016 (when most people outside stans say he peaked), then not only will he maybe earn some respect back he can continue his legacy with this being a big speed bump

If he just disappears you think people are gonna suddenly just stop hating on him? Lmao, the hate will be there forever. Folks will be calling his new s*** ass and saying “kendrick made him disappear” and s***. Taking a long break doesn’t always mean you’re coming with your best s***. He just needs to sound energized and make a concise project like he did with Her Loss. He needs to have a proper rollout too, can’t be lazy anymore with his strategies

I wholeheartedly agree. Drake was uncharacteristically unprepared (although you could make the argument it’s apparent it is in character) and I think he really thought he star power alone could drown out any noise Kendrick would make which was categorically incorrect. The funny thing is aside from an absolute bombshell and a top 5 diss track of all time from Pusha that probably would’ve worked, but as you said someone that is quite literally his peer who he should know intimately based on working with him, subbing him, etc he just really relied on KTT tier talking points and (I cant remember who said it in the thread) making a joke out of his bombshell DV allegations like “haha but you beat your wife” just shows how ill prepared he was for this. The amount of lines, songs, and overall actions that have aged like milk just make me feel like anyone that gives a s*** about their reputation as a rapper (and Drake absolutely should it’s not as cool as it comes off to be like lol idc) should take a lot of this and really reflect on what happened, what went wrong, and how to improve.

He'll still make his hits, get his money, get his streams, but this will always be a huge knock against him.
All those I'm the greatest, I'm the best bars will fall flat. He lost to his contemporary in an embarrassing manner, that he constantly reminded everyone he was better than. Once a battle happened, he showed he was lightyears behind that other guy.
Drake definitely cares about his rap legacy. At least he used to for sure. This is a huge knock to his legacy.
