Kendrick really studied Drake, while Drake really didn't study Kendrick at all. You'd think 10+ years of going back and forth would make Drake come more prepared. I think this was also obvious when Drake kept mentioning how he's going on vacation now. He just came off a long tour. He should've did all this when he was actually prepared, but I think this is when his ego came into play and he felt like this would be nothing for him. He really didn't think this through.

There's so much ammo against Drake. Meet the Grahams to me wasn't a huge expose because everything Kendrick talked about has already been said about Drake multiple times. Hell, it's been said about him on these forums alone, the alleged drinking problem, gambling problems, pedo stuff, parading Dennis around, womanizing, etc. I'm not sure how Drake didn't see any of this coming. All of it has been said about him throughout the years.

If Drake actually studied Kendrick, he could've spun it like Kendrick is a hypocrite. Using the black community by saying all complexions are beautiful or that natural black women are beautiful yet always messing with white girls. Or for years using the black plight for his advancement, but the moment the black community calls upon him, he says he's not their savior. Do I believe this stuff? No. But he could've spun it. But I don't think he had the depth to even think of this stuff during this beef. He didn't take it serious.

It's like the Pusha T beef made him regress, instead of get smarter.

Why do you think the allegations about women have to be true for this to damage his rep? If you go back to @ryuH's post he was obviously talking about how people view Drake's position in the culture. Even if he's successful he'll always be known as the guy that got Ja Rule'd by Kendrick. It didn't have to be this way. I know you think Drake is perfect but he's made some objectively bad decisions these past few years, and his reputation would be better if he hadn't.

You more than anyone should realize Drake is more than just his album sales. You know there's more at stake than just "well people will still listen to his next album!" Drake is supposed to be a leader in hip hop. He shouldn't be sneak dissing a black woman who was shot, being texting buddies with little girls (and no I'm not calling him a pedo), and cosplaying as a mob boss even though he's from the suburbs. What you Drake stans don't realize is that he wouldn't have as many haters if he took his position as a leader more seriously. But you guys are so apathetic to everything he does y'all can't even fathom why we want him to do better.

I know I'll just get dismissed as being a stupid Kendrick stan though but I'm just giving you some food for thought

He'll still make his hits, get his money, get his streams, but this will always be a huge knock against him.

All those I'm the greatest, I'm the best bars will fall flat. He lost to his contemporary in an embarrassing manner, that he constantly reminded everyone he was better than. Once a battle happened, he showed he was lightyears behind that other guy.

Drake definitely cares about his rap legacy. At least he used to for sure. This is a huge knock to his legacy.

People have been hating on Drake his entire career. You're dumb if you think he's being attacked from all angles simply because he wasn't more of a leader. How else should he lead? He does more for this culture than Kendrick or Cole. He's given more.

This was always going to be unavoidable for the simple fact that he was never supposed to be dominant for this long and that has tons of people feeling a way about him. That's the entire premise of this beef: niggas hating on the guy who dared to be #1 for too long. Especially since he does his own thing and doesn't f*** with a lot of industry people, especially in media.

I wholeheartedly agree. Drake was uncharacteristically unprepared (although you could make the argument it’s apparent it is in character) and I think he really thought he star power alone could drown out any noise Kendrick would make which was categorically incorrect. The funny thing is aside from an absolute bombshell and a top 5 diss track of all time from Pusha that probably would’ve worked, but as you said someone that is quite literally his peer who he should know intimately based on working with him, subbing him, etc he just really relied on KTT tier talking points and (I cant remember who said it in the thread) making a joke out of his bombshell DV allegations like “haha but you beat your wife” just shows how ill prepared he was for this. The amount of lines, songs, and overall actions that have aged like milk just make me feel like anyone that gives a s*** about their reputation as a rapper (and Drake absolutely should it’s not as cool as it comes off to be like lol idc) should take a lot of this and really reflect on what happened, what went wrong, and how to improve.

Like just ask yourselves. Would the "public clap" if Kendrick accused Cole of being a pedophile? Ofc they wouldn't. It only worked on Drake because of his multiple instances of having inappropriate relationships with women. Y'all know you should blame Drake for this but you don't want to go against your papi so instead you just blame it on the idea that people only bought Kendrick's allegation because they're jealous of Drake's success.

Maybe you ultimately don't care about rap and rap legacy, but your boy definitely does. He grew up listening to all these lyrical, miracle rappers. Probably why he gets so mad at Joe Budden's opinions. He was a hardcore Mood Muzik fan.

Maybe he doesn't care about this crowd anymore, but he started off in this realm. He is probably part of the last group of rappers that care/cared about lyricism and rap legacy.

So maybe you don't care, but the guy you vehemently defend definitely did care.

And as a woman, shouldn't you see how ridiculous Drake is at times when he talks about women? And his thoughts on women have gotten worse as the years have gone on. You'd think as a woman you'd see what he says is problematic, but I dunno, I guess she can't see it or doesn't care.
