Kendrick really studied Drake, while Drake really didn't study Kendrick at all. You'd think 10+ years of going back and forth would make Drake come more prepared. I think this was also obvious when Drake kept mentioning how he's going on vacation now. He just came off a long tour. He should've did all this when he was actually prepared, but I think this is when his ego came into play and he felt like this would be nothing for him. He really didn't think this through.
There's so much ammo against Drake. Meet the Grahams to me wasn't a huge expose because everything Kendrick talked about has already been said about Drake multiple times. Hell, it's been said about him on these forums alone, the alleged drinking problem, gambling problems, pedo stuff, parading Dennis around, womanizing, etc. I'm not sure how Drake didn't see any of this coming. All of it has been said about him throughout the years.
If Drake actually studied Kendrick, he could've spun it like Kendrick is a hypocrite. Using the black community by saying all complexions are beautiful or that natural black women are beautiful yet always messing with white girls. Or for years using the black plight for his advancement, but the moment the black community calls upon him, he says he's not their savior. Do I believe this stuff? No. But he could've spun it. But I don't think he had the depth to even think of this stuff during this beef. He didn't take it serious.
It's like the Pusha T beef made him regress, instead of get smarter.
the Pusha beef severely affected the way Drake handled this beef.
coming off 2018, Drake probably thought he didn’t go low enough, dig up enough “dirt”, which is exactly what Pusha did. So that’s exactly how he tried to approach this beef. Expose “tea” in his records that no one knew prior. However, it backfired on him as there was not enough concrete proof for people to really care. It worked for Pusha because we started seeing Adonis immediately after that beef. SOA was 100% facts and affected the way Drake moved after. Drake tried to expose Kendrick as wife beater and Dave Free, but at the end of the day it was all speculation. There wasn’t enough meat on the bone for people to care.
It’s funny because all the questions people had about Drake when he came into the game are exactly what ended up being his downfall. Him being an actor, inauthentic, singing too much, simp, ext. These aspects when away as he grew more successful but they were still an underlying weak foundation that was bound to get exposed. Kendrick studied this and peeled back the layers to the point where it was undeniable
Why do you think the allegations about women have to be true for this to damage his rep?
If you go back to @ryuH's post he was obviously talking about how people view Drake's position in the culture. Even if he's successful he'll always be known as the guy that got Ja Rule'd by Kendrick. It didn't have to be this way. I know you think Drake is perfect but he's made some objectively bad decisions these past few years, and his reputation would be better if he hadn't.
You more than anyone should realize Drake is more than just his album sales. You know there's more at stake than just "well people will still listen to his next album!" Drake is supposed to be a leader in hip hop. He shouldn't be sneak dissing a black woman who was shot, being texting buddies with little girls (and no I'm not calling him a pedo), and cosplaying as a mob boss even though he's from the suburbs. What you Drake stans don't realize is that he wouldn't have as many haters if he took his position as a leader more seriously. But you guys are so apathetic to everything he does y'all can't even fathom why we want him to do better.
I know I'll just get dismissed as being a stupid Kendrick stan though
but I'm just giving you some food for thought
People have been hating on Drake his entire career. You're dumb if you think he's being attacked from all angles simply because he wasn't more of a leader. How else should he lead? He does more for this culture than Kendrick or Cole. He's given more.
This was always going to be unavoidable for the simple fact that he was never supposed to be dominant for this long and that has tons of people feeling a way about him. That's the entire premise of this beef: niggas hating on the guy who dared to be #1 for too long. Especially since he does his own thing and doesn't f*** with a lot of industry people, especially in media.
He'll still make his hits, get his money, get his streams, but this will always be a huge knock against him.
All those I'm the greatest, I'm the best bars will fall flat. He lost to his contemporary in an embarrassing manner, that he constantly reminded everyone he was better than. Once a battle happened, he showed he was lightyears behind that other guy.
Drake definitely cares about his rap legacy. At least he used to for sure. This is a huge knock to his legacy.
No need having a back and forth with anyone who legitimately thinks this. Y'all got it

Drake stans really have to stop with this bullshit about all his beefs being because of jealousy
Drake stans really have to stop with this bullshit about all his beefs being because of jealousy
You're an idiot if you think that's not the underlying factor in most of not all his disputes. Envy, jealousy, overall insecurity prompted by Drake and how he moves.
No need having a back and forth with anyone who legitimately thinks this. Y'all got it
Well, what do you think I said is wrong?
But anyways, let's agree to disagree. Drake's career is done and his legacy is ruined. I agree. Y'all got it
I wholeheartedly agree. Drake was uncharacteristically unprepared (although you could make the argument it’s apparent it is in character) and I think he really thought he star power alone could drown out any noise Kendrick would make which was categorically incorrect. The funny thing is aside from an absolute bombshell and a top 5 diss track of all time from Pusha that probably would’ve worked, but as you said someone that is quite literally his peer who he should know intimately based on working with him, subbing him, etc he just really relied on KTT tier talking points and (I cant remember who said it in the thread) making a joke out of his bombshell DV allegations like “haha but you beat your wife” just shows how ill prepared he was for this. The amount of lines, songs, and overall actions that have aged like milk just make me feel like anyone that gives a s*** about their reputation as a rapper (and Drake absolutely should it’s not as cool as it comes off to be like lol idc) should take a lot of this and really reflect on what happened, what went wrong, and how to improve.
He won't though. He'll fall back on I have the most streams, most money, etc.
When you're on top for so long and make all this money, get all this adulation, maybe you lose a sense of reality. I'm sure it's hard to be grounded.
You're an idiot if you think that's not the underlying factor in most of not all his disputes. Envy, jealousy, overall insecurity prompted by Drake and how he moves.
And you’re a dumbass delusional stan if you think Kendrick and Abel are jealous of drake
Everyone knows exactly where most of his issues with these man come from but for some reason a few of you can’t accept that a guy who’s songs you like may move like a piece of s*** behind the scenes.
Any legit criticism of Drake or any post that even dares say he made a mistake in his career
tgd: you're a f***ing idiot

Rightfully so
I agree with you 100%.
Maybe you ultimately don't care about rap and rap legacy, but your boy definitely does. He grew up listening to all these lyrical, miracle rappers. Probably why he gets so mad at Joe Budden's opinions. He was a hardcore Mood Muzik fan.
Maybe he doesn't care about this crowd anymore, but he started off in this realm. He is probably part of the last group of rappers that care/cared about lyricism and rap legacy.
So maybe you don't care, but the guy you vehemently defend definitely did care.
Like just ask yourselves. Would the "public clap" if Kendrick accused Cole of being a pedophile? Ofc they wouldn't. It only worked on Drake because of his multiple instances of having inappropriate relationships with women. Y'all know you should blame Drake for this but you don't want to go against your papi so instead you just blame it on the idea that people only bought Kendrick's allegation because they're jealous of Drake's success.
Not the same, Cole isn’t anywhere near the global superstar drake is
& people are jumping on the bandwagon to hate the person at the top. Just like in all of history
Any legit criticism of Drake or any post that even dares say he made a mistake in his career

And as a woman, shouldn't you see how ridiculous Drake is at times when he talks about women? And his thoughts on women have gotten worse as the years have gone on. You'd think as a woman you'd see what he says is problematic, but I dunno, I guess she can't see it or doesn't care.

Alrighty.

If I cared about what rappers said about women, I wouldn't be such a huge rap fan and I definitely wouldn't start by criticizing Drake because it's a truckload of rappers who have both DONE and SAID way worse things to and about women. But y'all don't give a f*** about them and yet expect me to give a f*** about what Drake does/says.
But anyways, let's agree to disagree. Drake's career is done and his legacy is ruined. I agree. Y'all got it
This is my response moving forward btw
But anyways, let's agree to disagree. Drake's career is done and his legacy is ruined. I agree. Y'all got it
Lmao this is really what I just be telling people now. Everyone stop listening to Drake forever and let him fade into obscurity. The “culture” finally exiled him.
This is my response moving forward btw
Either your reading comprehension is low or you are purposely obtuse. Most reasonable people are not saying his career is done or his legacy is "ruined"
Most reasonable people are saying this is a big hit to him. If you think otherwise, you are being delusional.
He's been talking about how he is better than Kendrick for over 10 years. The moment they come to a head to head, one guy annihilated the other. If you think talking up a storm for over 10 years and you get embarrassed like this, obviously it will hurt your legacy. It was one of the biggest rap battles of all time and Drake lost. Of course it's a hit to his legacy.
He also would not stop yapping on IG for weeks. He was goading Kendrick's team. Instead of being on IG maybe he should've prepared better.
I hope non of y'all are certifiedjared that's all.
That's one corny ass nigga who is the epitome of the drake fan stereotype
