Id say the main difference is that the listeners on Apple music listen on Apple music and that the Spotify listeners listen on Spotify

That being said it just depends on which one the person decides to use. Basically at the end of the day its just whichever they pick Apple or Spotify.

  • Spotify’s playlists and gimmicky social stuff like the Unwrapped make it the platform for people who don’t know what to listen to, more casual music listeners. Apple Music has better sound quality and it’s laid out to help you go through entire projects or even discographies far easier than Spotify so it’s for people who are more diehard about the stuff they listen to (aka us)

AM needs to have a way to disable itunes match

  • Jul 24, 2023

Having used iTunes since like 04 it was natural to go Apple Music when streaming became the norm

  • Jul 24, 2023

Don’t know but I miss finding new artists on SoundCloud every week

apple music discovery sucks, so i think it forces users to find interesting stuff on their own

i love spotify’s discovery algorithm, but it kinda drives a bunch of ppl towards specific artists at times. also feel like the discovery is so good, you can easily become less engaged with specific artists

the ui in apple music is so much better though, that i think those who know what they wanna listen to, have a better time there than on spotify

most of my musician friends use spotify and constantly find gnarly stuff, but those of us that use apple music, kinda end up being outside the “spotify recommended bubble” that starts to build amongst friends

  • playlists on spotify are much better too

this + the ui differences, AM naturally favors album listening over playlists

this is why i’ll always use an over spotify despite having both.

my liked songs are much easier to access and i find myself repeatedly listening to the same couple of stuff i found and liked on spotify.

apple music, feels more like a constant rotation of albums im cycling through each week. the made for you playlists essentially are a randomized version of the tracks you have been liking, listening to a lot most recently, so i use those generated playlists for the casual listening i would want from spotify

iTunes and Apple Music began as being more centered around building music libraries. Before AM it took a lot of effort to organize your library, get your cover arts and track listings in order, find and add your music. Unless you paid for everything which isn’t realistic.

I still feel like AM is a much better music library tool than Spotify. By far.

Spotify is much more focused on algorithms and playlists. It targets the casual music listener which is why it’s the most popular service worldwide.

I have and use both but I wish I didn’t have to have both.

    spotify is for broke bois

  • AM users are attractive, have good jobs, or are working towards some sort of meaningful goal, more likely to have better taste in music

Spotify users peaked in high school, may be addicted to the gym

apple music is for people who listen to the hot 100 exclusively

spotify is for people with taste

spotify is for people who have to be told what to listen to

u should just use youtube music

the glory days of itunes with editing ur files and uploading pristine copies of stuff that will never exist on the others (unless apple music's phoney service stopped matching ur s*** to wrong stuff) and all the joys of unlimited youtube uploads of leaks, rarities and mixes......

    I concur.
Apple Music listeners listen to Apple Music While Spotify listeners listen to Spotify. I mean have you ever seen an Apple Music listener listen to Spotify or have you ever see a Spotify listener listen to Apple Music?

spotify got the real music nerds i dont see no esoteric playlists on AM

real music nerds and playlists are oxymoronic

  • Spotify has a more comfortable UI so that’s why I prefer it over AM. I don’t like the look of AM and the music app on iPhones. If you prefer it over Spotify, then your taste is s*** imo.

I use apple music for the better audio quality, ecosystem integration, and iCloud library. I've used Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal all for extended periods of time and Apple Music was kind of just objectively the best. I get if you like the spotify UI better or if you discover your music through playlists, but other than that, youre paying the same amount for an inferior product. it aint that deep to 95% of folks tho
