Kendrick is an album’s artist (at least using this site as a gauge) as opposed to Jay Z and Wayne who are beyond that and seen as iconic pillars of what hip hop is today. All three are absolutely amazing but I think Kendrick’s biggest fans have ironically boxed him into that conversation
you must be suburban
Born and raised in the bronx but continue to go off. Niggas would laugh at this thread IRL
don't get it twisted tho kendrick is in the GOAT convo he's just different than hov and wayne
kendrick stans are insufferable and mostly white
you can say this for a majority of rappers fanbases
nigga every professional athlete even said they would pick drake and cole over kendrick
you pitchforkesque ktt2 posters are not gonna tell me that wayne at his peak was even questioned as the goat, HE WAS UNQUESTIONABLY THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE
U trippin bro... u ever witnessed a Kendrick album drop in real time?
Coz what ur sayin is blasphemy
He's respected. His albums are exciting the few times he did drop. But idk man I've lived a lot of places and had a lot of music conversations and Kendrick usually not favored
It really does just boil down to his visibility & expansion on the culture outside of music are both not on the level of Wayne & Jays especially at their peaks
Kendrick wordplay not even that amazing to keep it a buck. A lot of huffing and puffing. A spazzing here and there. Wayne was doing lyrical gymnastics

im born and raised in harlem and aint nobody playing kung fu kenny out they whip

Only people who dont know music can disregard his output TBH
Hes one of only a handful of artists EVER who have a flawless disco and 3 classics in a row
Also maybe a conversation for another thread but I honestly believe west coast rappers will never be in the conversation for GOAT aside from 2pac who ain’t a real west coast rapper born and bread. Idk if it’s bias or what but I’ve always felt like they had to fight for respect harder
im born and raised in harlem and aint nobody playing kung fu kenny out they whip
true.
yall be playing drill rapper that sound like christian bale playing batman #3,086

Kendrick is 10x the rapper Jay Z is
Kendrick has only dropped a few albums. think about how much exposure and how many new experiences people have with every new Jay-Z release and all the unique content he's given fans over the years. Kendrick outside of his music is not really a "Celebrity" when he's not dropping music and that's his personal choice. its not only about music, Wayne and Jay-Z in their commercial peaks and even Jay Z til today had impact on people's lives outside of that
I would say that Kendrick has already surpassed Wayne artistically. Especially since Wayne went on a hot streak of mostly trash from like 2008 to 2015.
However his creativity and rap skill at his peak is undeniable, and the fact that many of y'all itt are tryna write that off to d*** ride Kendrick and say that Wayne hasn't released anything better than Section 80 and DAMN is making me absolutely f***ing sick.
im born and raised in harlem and aint nobody playing kung fu kenny out they whip
Ain't nobody playing Wayne in 2021 either. They play his old s*** if anything lmao + wasn't this convo about who's the GOAT makes better music? Cause everyone calls Kendrick a GOAT now too
Only people who dont know music can disregard his output TBH

What you mean by people who don't know music? That's the think with Kendrick. It's for a certain demographic. EVERYBODY and they mama agreed that Wayne was the best raoper alive when he said it. Kendrick is an avante garde artist and that is admirable because he's really the only one doing it. But he's not as impactful as Wayne or Jay
I appreciate that Kendrick puts so much time and effort into his albums, I really do, but theres something about that urgency of needing to dominate and be number 1 that Hov and Wayne had, that just makes it more difficult in a sense. Like if hov took 3 years between each album when he was younger, every album would be reasonable doubt / Blueprint level. Same for Wayne. If Wayne wasnt dropping 75 guest verses in a year, multiple mixtapes, all at the same time, imagine how much better the Carter series would be.
