    he doesn't sing.

he isn't as good a rapper.

he doesn't have the same ear for production.

he doesn't see the landscape of music the same way Drake does and doesn't understand the right way to touch it as a result.

    aint no pizza, get out.

Laughable. Clearly you don’t listen to Wale to say this. And that’s ok but be knowledgeable about something before you spew bullshit

I was fw him heavy til he dropped that trash debut

The lane he was in had a ceiling and he never broke through. He could rap, had moments when he kinda went in too. He just couldn’t consistently make enjoyable songs. He was never able to make the signature Wale record. Ended up making R&B records. The hooks got more attention than his verses

Imo really didn’t do much to set himself aside from his peers. Drake had R&B songs and put enough of his personal life in his raps to make listeners feel some type of connection to his story. Musically he always had range. Even Cudi talked about his emotions, d****, and was versatile out the gate too. Wale talked about being from DC, dropped sneaker/wrestling references, and did the conscious/backpack s*** too

He was doing the go go s*** which was cool at first. When he wasn’t doing that his sound was generic. Subject matter wise he wasn’t doing too much either. His style became stale to me after awhile. Seemed like all his peers expanded their vision and he became stagnant in every way

    dmv ride for wale

I would agree that MDV supports Wale but I do think DMV ain’t really riding for most artists as well

    Op is f***ing hater weirdo

Y’all goofies just sit around making hate threads all day

Why don’t you just make a wale appreciation thread instead of hiding behind a Drake hate thread

I can agree with this. No need to compare Wale to Drake. Both great in their own way

I stay in DMV, nobody really rock with Wale like that. Niggas rock with Durk and Meek Mill more

I stay in DMV as well. I disagree. Wale literally has murals around DC. He just sold out the Fillmore and headlining BC Fest.

What do U like about him cus this is like the whole wale experience to me

I love Wale songs like Legendary, The Pessimist, Brightseat road, groundhogs day, it’s too late, sue me, double m genius.

I could make a greatest hits of his B sides.

Too cocky while being insecure at the same time. And his sound never evolved when it needed to the most

LOVE Wale. Have listened to all his albums and tapes, got a bunch of loosies and freestyles from him.

    Here's why he's not Drake.

    1. Melodies are decent, at best. Flows are repetitive and niche. Drake melodies and flows are timeless.

    2. Bars are often too intricate to hit or too corny to like. It feels mechanical, like its his day job, interchangeable from one song to the next, not urgent or important. Drake is becoming like this too tbh.

    3. Appearance - simply put, Wale doesn't have the X factor, the indescribile thing that makes you a star. No one wants to BE Wale. No one wants to dress like him, or ask his opinion about anything, although he is pretty knowledgeable about sneaker culture.

    4. Twitter - he's very, very bad at twitter. Like it's almost incredible how bad he is at it. It's a real turn off tbh.

    5. Generic R&B feature hooks on each album - these are honestly the worst, and he might be the worst offender of them all.

    6. Make a worthy successor to Ambition

I disagree with all of this 😂😂😂

You must’ve stopped listening after his “trash debut album” then to say he doesn’t get personal in his music.

But ppl don’t hold other artists who do the same to that standard. Meek been b****ing lately. Meg been on twitter going on rants. Doja crying talking she quitting. But when Wale did it 5, 10 years ago ppl still holding him to that. And saying he’s a jerk is weird. Most of Cole’s features is him saying he’s better than everyone but it’s Cole so it’s ok

Nah ppl still get called out for it. Like WSG. Niggas been fed up with his "it should of been us!" rants

But not to the same level where they dismiss an artist and their music like they did Wale. Wale called complex out like 10 years ago and ppl still hold that against him. Complex and their lists are trash, Wale should’ve got an award for that 😂😂😂

  • Apr 5, 2022

I used to listen to all those Cole, Wale and b.O.b mixtapes back in like 09

He should of just ignored it and kept cooking. But he started to have a lot of moments like that, so he became known for it. Complaining about how slept on you are is never going to help u in the long run tbh. It's just how it is. Either own your lane and not give a f*** about the critics or rise up and make something people can't ignore

It’s easy to say what an artist should do. So many artists are flawed and do things on social media and publicly but for some reason Wale has become someone who can’t escape that and that allows ppl to trash him. If you don’t like him, that’s fine but ppl don’t even listen to him and say he sucks because it’s been a social media thing. It’s bogus.

Went through an era where he was doing poetry to begin songs

Let J Cole violate him unchecked

    Doesn’t give good interviews

Doesn’t have a mainstream hit for the fellas. All his most recognizable songs are for the b****es. Drake has a lot for both.

what is the hardest song Wale has out? I want to hear it.
