The subject matter not evolving bit is a corny take. He raps about money, girls, cars, being the best, and his opps like all rappers do…..

Wtf yall want him to rap about changing Adonis diapers or waking up in the middle of the night to feed him?

They want him to talk about issues going on in the world which drake had literally never done

    aubs and his yes men

they are talentless and are too afraid to tell Aubrey the truth on some of his bars/beats

    they are holding him back

This is a good question that I’ve lowkey kinda thought of. For me I know what drake is going to deliver at this point. He’s at a stage in his career where people want him to completely flip the script which just isn’t going to album. For this album in particular I do wish he kind of cut some of the songs and made it alittle more concise. I think way to sexy could of been a good track to put out outside of the album. The tems song felt alittle out of place too. Lastly I feel like he sometimes overthinks these albums and changes stuff last minute which could end up hurting the overall product

I mean if you consistent I’ll give you that for sure it worked for thug in 2014 and future in 2015

Yeah but people f*** with drake’s output for the most part. The general public f***s with the music and the numbers and media discourse reflect that

An artist of his status can not please everybody cool you got your complaints off wrap it up and move on. Cause i’m seeing the general consensus so far is people vibing with it. Don’t need 30 threads on “HoW AUbrEy’S mUsIc iS DiSaPpoinTiNg”

Why are you in here mosning crying if the general consensus is “pEOPLE aRe vIBiNG wITH it” go vibe with it. You didn’t have to comment in this thread

when will people like op realize drake can never win the overall public reception ever again. when he experiments its "culture vulture" and "we want the old drake" but when he delivers like he did on CLB its 13 pages full of criticism like this

You thinking make faux reggae Is experimental?

So it’s ok for him to do it because all rappers do it?!? He’s not just any rapper. He’s the biggest rapper. Drake is not on the same level as Durk or baby. His stans have the lowest expectations of him.

"His stans have the lowest expectations of him" Truer words have never been said man. I have talks with some of these guys and I swear I don't get how they even became stans because all the s*** Drake did to become regarded as one of the best they don't seem to care about at all. All the little details of what made him so good they don't give a f*** about. All they care about is if a song slaps and if he putting up big numbers. I think they just way more in love with him then his music or something idk.

That's cool I guess if they don't care about it but I hold him to a higher standard than most rappers and he does too or else he wouldn't be saying s*** like "shout out to Hov because it's him then me". This a dude that is a contender for the hip hop throne and he ain't been showing he is for the past 5 years. In some areas he is but it's hard to say he the best if he don't come with high quality albums.

I’d say his delivery. I agree it can be monotone when he raps. I think he did a little better with that on CLB though.

I don’t ever hear this criticism levied against other rappers though who are just as monotone as he is most the time. I think it has to do with the fact that we’re constantly hearing drake so we notice it more as opposed to other artists that we don’t hear as frequently and aren’t as ever present.

If drake weren’t so ever present I think he could get away with it more. Because I think a lot of rappers are that way. Kendrick is the only one I listen to regularly that I don’t think falls into this ever and I think sometimes he goes too far the other direction. He also releases music much less frequently too.

Truer words have never been spoken. The dweebs on KTT think they control the narrative and their opinions dictate real life. Once you get off the internet nothing they say actually exists.

I'd say no. It was popular beforee 2016. He helped introduce it to people who may have not been alive in the 2000s where beanie man, sean paul and even nina sky had big dancehall tracks in the us but so did bieber and so did sia.

Which songs made it popular before 2016?

None of those artists had a One Dance or Controlla level song with impact on popular culture lol

Ok I can agree with those

I just think One Dance/Controlla birthed a lot more songs in that genre than say someone like Sean Paul did

But I'm not that old so I can't remember exactly every dancehall derivative song that happened during that time

Donda chant must have really gotten you pumped. Revolutionary track filled with substance drake’s lacking. It’s also the most intriguing intro ever known to mankind

Kanye stans are the most pretentious idiotic people on the planet

The both had major impacts. Sean Paul I would say more just cause he broke down the barrier for that kind of music to be mainstream so long ago. Drake brought it back in a completely new decade with a completely new generation. It’s different but both great in their own right

That’s true it’s basically 2 different generations. I was like on the cusp of both cause I feel like temperature was always a big song at events and such
