no evolution. He's running in place and it feels like he has nothing left to offer as an artist

I have like a love hate relationship with Drake and his music. Some of his music defined my high school experience and he released some amazing music back from 2011-2016. But these days, I’m just so irritated by the corny gimmicks he pulls and the music being either copy and paste or ridiculously subpar. He knows he’s the biggest, but he’s not the best. He didn’t have the best album recently and I hope that really sits with him because I truly do feel like he has it in him to drop something great.

It also hurts that we kinda felt like he mislead us by implying that it was “cohesive” like NWTS and actually took his time in between the songs. In reality he gave us 21 TRACKS and the mixing, sequencing, etc. Felt all rushed to me

    Like what the f***?

He’s not evolving enough. He’s pushing 40 and still making the same kinda songs. Nas evolved, jay z evolved, Kanye, Micheal Jackson, Beyoncé. All the greats have evolved. Not him

Really? I don’t keep up too much with 40 and drake but hasn’t he EP all his albums?

If 40 really had his way, we’d get that 13 track album fans have wanted for years. He’s been bothering Drake about it for awhile now.

I think IYRTITL is as perfect of a drake album we will ever get

Feels like it’s gonna be impossible to ever reach those heights again

40 hasn’t really been involved in a Drake album since VIEWS though.

40 on every track on this album and he executive produced it

Drake saw how successful the formula for Take Care worked and has implemented it on all his work to some degree since. How it didn’t start to feel stale up until Scorpion is telling of Drakes talent.

But if he really wanna be a GOAT like MJ or Hov, he gotta shoot a dart in more then one place. MJ didn’t see Thrillers massive success and then just try to recreate Thriller everytime afterwards, he completely switched it up with Bad.

We’re more so talking about improvement from his major releases

It’s a given he’s gonna improve from his mixtape days all the way to CLB lol

I sorta disagree with you he started solidifying a formula with VIEWS and on. Which is why his following releases after that album (except Care Package and I guess DLDT) felt like the sequel to it. You know the “something for everybody” type formula

Guess he used that formula on TC. But that was executed quite well imo

Most of his songs from Clb kinda sound like they could’ve came out in 2016, it’s been 5 years

views barely has hard rap . Where are the parallels to Views and CLB with songs like Knife talk, no friends and 7am ? 🤣

I don't even f*** with his stuff like that but I'm not going to lie just to hate. I got actual criticism with his music but I won't act like he's boring or hasn't evolved

That’s why I said “to some degree”. All his releases after were affected by Take Cares formula, but some (NWTS) affected way less then others (VIEWS, CLB).
