And it's always been a huge problem on ktt it's basically a staple.
There's real criticism about Drake but these niggas don't even really listen so they keep it vague too. His music is "soulless" "uninspired" or "generic" but they don't expand past that. They been hearing the same Drake album for years but can't give examples or be specific about songs.
That's why everyone could see through this because their words are so shallow. Same niggas every release for years at this point, they got to look in the mirror and realize the real root of the problem.
Yup
I low key didn’t want the thread to go into drake section because I knew his stans would start acting up
"I wanted a one sided discussion and now I'm going to get different opinions"
Bro they’re just trying to control the narrative. If they actually listened, they wouldn’t be saying it’s uninspired. He sounds more inspired on this than anything since NWTS.
This is also some of his best production but they didn’t listen so they wouldn’t know

No way op heard the album like No Friends In The Industry or Papi's Home and came here to say "his boring delivery" as if that's not the biggest cap of the year
My biggest criticism of CLB at this point is it doesn’t seem to explore the “Lover Boy” theme in a way that’s distinguishable from his other albums. He also fails to address the 2 year delay and doesn’t seem to dive into what was going on in his life during that period at all. I think those were big missed opportunities.
Other than that the album is good music top to bottom. It’s not very innovative and it wasn’t made to play as a “cohesive body of work” but I’m starting to realize we are judging him by standards from a bygone era tbh.
20 years ago going to the store and buying an album was the only way you were hearing a bunch of songs from an artist at once and there were also limits to how much music you could fit on a CD which is why there were double albums etc. Those limitations are what made it so meritable for an artist to be able to give fans something special within confines of the technology of the time.
In the streaming era tho none of those restrictions exist and so values are quickly changing. Albums are getting longer simply because they can and music is being released more frequently because of the ease of access so less time is being put into crafting an album that is designed to play cohesively front to back and instead artist want to just give there fans as much content as possible and stay competitive in the marketplace. It just kinda is what it is. There is still a niche market that wants to hear more traditional albums (shorter, more focused, theme based) but that’s not Drake’s target audience.
I always expected Drake to have that old school mentality for some reason but it’s obvious he’s changed with the times so it is what it is. If he makes a short “cohesive” album at this point in his career it would be a novelty project for him.
My biggest wish for him is that his subject matter would evolve.
My opinion is wrong because I don’t ride Drakes cock and that’s okay.

Damn you know me so well. Because I love all Kanye’s projects and defend every thing he’s done. Man how you know?

See this is genuine criticism and you're right, he's not limited to a CD and we can get a real long life story and an album with some breathing room and he can showcase his full range. There's some merit behind the great art can come from limitations argument but I think Drake is one of the exceptions especially when he has so much going on. This was a great read that gets someone thinking.
The passive aggressive energy in posts like this is so disturbing. All I read is people projecting onto Drake and saying he's the real problem when it's really them. Y'all never have this much criticism and energy for other artists who literally repeat the same themes in their albums. That's how I know this is hella sus and biased.

I think it's more because everyone knows what Drake's capable of, I truly believe he's capable of so much more than what he put out on CLB

I think drake is more capable as well. I don’t know what it’s gonna take to unlock the potential tho
Nothing, he's evolved and still making classics this far into his career I can't hate that

Nah, I don't get that. people genuinely hate him here and use the phrase "Im a huge Drake fan" to cover it up. Im not buying it.
