Voice + songs in the beginning were hard like some DMX s***
Then he got in his melody bag like 50 & Ja Rule
Had so much potential to get bigger too smh
he was just startin off with jackboys releasing a month before his death
he could've been a titan at this point
I didn’t like his music like that either but he do have some bangers.
Plus anyone who dies young always had the potential to be great
I still dream of the snippet El Alfa posted.
We never getting that
170 mil por un show
I remember when I was on welcome to the party when it first came out and mfs wasn’t getting it. Some people thought he was a joke cause of his low voice, but then they had no choice but to come around eventually cause his energy and presence was so undeniable
It’s been years since I seen a rapper from New York who be havin niggas dancing in the club how pop music do.
Don't feel bad people were asking this before he died, it's just bad taste to talk down on him since he passed.
I liked Meet the Woo Vol 1 a lot. Thought 2 was him resting on his laurels. The post-humous record was a bloated collab fest with a pop turn. Was waiting for him to lean hard into that 50 angle. His throwback tracks are great.
You aren't disrespecting Pop but you are disrespecting all of us who really enjoy his music in the way you started the thread. "What do y'all see in Pop Smoke?" like as if we have some mental deficiency liking someone who was extremely talented and put out great material, had a memorable impact on going out nights pre-Covid. These threads just bait simply in the way the questions are worded.
I don’t care for that NY drill sound, so I never really gave him a chance. Peeped his album and I didn’t really care for it too much on first listen. I know everyone has different taste, so I never knocked him. RIP to that brother

Theres plenty of rappers who are alive we can critique, let the man rest.
I rarely listen to him but I think lotta of artists that died young could improve a lot.
He really had a bright future ahead of him man. Like he was only 20 and had a long way to go, he could’ve been great. It’s all about the potential and the good stuff he had
