Ah word. Lol I used to run ads for a pest, handyman, and landscaping company at the same gig. Genuinely really interesting industry.
theoretically I can transition out my branding would allow, I do it occasionally but I just don't in regards to marketing since I've had huge success running national with small businesses
I can't build those sites anymore it's too repetitive lol
Network Engineer
I was doing that in school, that s*** was the worst
I hate cisco lmao
so whats your ad budget per month look like?
Nowadays $0 on Facebook and between $15-20k on Google Ads with significantly better results due to my industry.
Used to regularly do as much as $8k/mo spends on FB at a previous gig, though. It was a D2C commercial services company with pretty strong local name recognition, which meant the window of opportunity was narrow but relatively predictable enough to optimize for.
We were able to set up a great remarketing funnel using the pixel - and that's where it shines imo. It was always a b**** when it came to reporting, though, because the story Facebook tells always ends up more biased toward Facebook than Google A***ytics and the actual CRM does.

I knew Cisco and now have to learn Juniper
self tought ?
business owner?
Yeah all of that is self-taught. Only thing I paid for was the UX design course.
Running a corporate website right now, but I plan on doing freelance or starting a small agency with a couple of friends working specifically on black owned business.

highly recommend not focusing on black owned businesses, you're going to be cutting yourself out of so much

I do - we're currently ~40%/30% paid/organic split in terms of acquisition. Haven't heard of this site, though - looks really solid. I'm using BrightEdge rn and I'm not sure that it's the right tool for us; we get a ton of our organic conversions from long-tail keywords and many of them don't even show up in the Content IQ on there. Appreciate the share, I'll take a look!

Not doing it for the money. I was trying to get my hair braided and had a tough time finding anyone. It's more about helping them to build a web presence and understanding what the basics are.
I'd still charge but they'd get a melanin discount :smug2:

Bruh I miss SEMrush so much. We were able to get in on a seat of a sister company's BrightEdge enterprise plan and it's so much f***ing worse for local SEO and long tail research
kudos that's a crazy number
yea u gotta check what the search volume is on certain topics and depending on how competitive the s*** is you can get ranked super high, cause i was right on time
im a data collector

I got lucky in that they had no one doing this stuff for them before I came, so I got to pick and choose whatever tools I want to use.

Hell yeah, appreciate it!
It's mostly blogging, yeah, but very much focused on specific geos since my company runs a two-sided marketplace and we're trying to get things to take off in major cities one by one rather than boiling the ocean. That's really why we're still spending so much on Google Ads; it pays for itself pretty quickly.

Same, and I recommended SEMrush, but they were like hey one of the folks at _ said we could hop on BrightEdge for a fraction of the cost of SEMrush Guru with more features on paper. Hard to argue with that when we're still in startup budget mode as it is. Eh could be worse, could be nothing lol

oh I gotcha, well that's a good idea with that perspective
highly recommend you broadcast that experience, great origin story
I'd suggest you keep in mind giving that insight while simultaneously not seeming abrasive to other people
tbh you have to do it for the money when it's multiple people working in the business, better to make the money and then be able to put it in places that allow you to make a change
don't do the discount man lmao; sued to oblivion
donate to causes you support or something

it's pretty solid but when an industry is so competitive it can be tough to rank above them
what're you posting about? good numbers for sure
