    Female Rapper dominated Era

Man you niggas do nothing but complain about rap lol gah damn y’all are so insufferable sometimes. This the only place that disrespects hip hop while at the same time not even being in tune with s*** outside of the same few hip hop heavyweights. Niggas don’t even listen to enough rap to form real opinions.

Put us on then, I know they rapping off beat in Detroit but anything else?

I feel like there’s no wave right now at all. What are your thoughts?

None but the way everything is going in general I know there’s gonna be a reset and either there is gonna be a second golden age or just another period like the 2010’s.

I guess I imagine rappers being diverse. I don’t know how to describe it. Everything coming out feels stale. There’s some good s*** then and there but not as prominent as it should have been

definitely seems like a weird interim period, there’s some niches popping up (e.g. rage/opium) and individuals making good stuff but no compelling overall sound

  • Mar 31, 2023

    P**** and perky era

  • shed theory/post surf gang extended universe has infiltrated my social circles if that's any indication of anything

We’ve been in a weird interim since like 2017 right? It’s not an interim, media killed culture

last year the big wave in rap was sampling old hits (first class jack harlow, super freaky girl nicki minaj, vegas doja cat) but right now i’d say we’re in an intermission of sorts. if i had to predict what’ll be big this year:

-central cee will only get bigger and bigger, he’s inarguably well poised at the moment whether you like him or not

-ice spice will secure another major hit thanks to her dedicated fanbase and female rap will only get bigger

-travis could have a huge year depending on how utopia is handled

-metro will be everywhere, trap could return to its 2016 popularity thanks to his collabs with future, marvel, etc

-drake will switch things up this year exploring the “florida with love/jumbotron s*** poppin” soundcloud sound

-uzi is in a good position, with their drake collab likely dropping this year and their album nearing completion

-either a new plugg/rage rapper will score a massive hit likely though tiktok that introduces the mainstream to the genre, or yeat will secure a big one with drake, regardless i think we’ll see the first top 40 song in the genre

as of right now, artists like yeat, ken carson, and destroy lonely are huge with youth audiences but haven’t fully broken into charting territory. this will be their (and their peers’) year to make their genre huge

I feel like we had a pretty huge pop-trap era like 2017-2020 with Astroworld, My Turn, Please Excuse Me for being Antisocial, Drip or Drown 2 etc, but that puttered out with the pandemic
