i think wait for u, one of the biggest songs of last year, definitely proved arguably for the first time his melodic singing style showcased in hndrxx could have major mainstream success (also it’s a super unique song in his discog). then again, superhero was/is huge too proving he still has the formula for trap hits. given he has an album with metro this year, i’d expect more trap. but we’ll see if he experiments more

Wait For U proved that drake on dancehall/Afrobeat will be a hit. Groundbreaking revelations fr

    What makes you think this

The underground becoming high quality music bringing new interesting sounds & artists while more artist going the independent route

Rap seemingly getting back to its buck the system phase after being pop

Which artists are going the independent route? As far as I know, the idea of the “independent artist” is completely finished

We’re waiting for the era we’re in to come to an end

Drake is the current king so we should embrace his reign & enjoy this time bc we don’t know what’s coming next or if we’ll even enjoy it as much as we have this era right now

Celebrate this ending bc it’s rare to get the opportunity to do so

It’s not really a deep take & at this point I thought we would have had the next king of rap lined up but it’s still the same dudes running the game

When we first heard drake, kanye, wayne, etc back in the day we all knew they were something special. They became artists bigger than life. Real superstars

This site likes to throw names around about who the next superstar will be but we just don’t have someone like that right now. We’ll all know when we finally do. This era won’t last forever so all I’m saying is we should enjoy the goats we came up with bc the next goats might not ever hit home for us

Guess we’ll see in the coming years

Man you niggas do nothing but complain about rap lol gah damn y’all are so insufferable sometimes. This the only place that disrespects hip hop while at the same time not even being in tune with s*** outside of the same few hip hop heavyweights. Niggas don’t even listen to enough rap to form real opinions.
