I ask this because
Arabs are considered ‘white’
North Africans can also be considered ‘white’
Persians are ‘white’
And many non-English speaking central Asians are also white
Also what about the fair skin Latinos and Hispanics that have more Spaniard blood in them than anything elseLike these groups all have a diversity in skin tone but for the ones which are fair skin they seem to automatically be assimilated into the white people of America if they live here.
Their cultures are completely different but some how the way they’re viewed by others seems to negate that. I’ve noticed being a fair skin Arab I’m treated differently once I reveal I speak Arabic fluently and seem closer to my roots than people typically think.
Europeans and Asians — does this dynamic seem common in your countries of residence too?

I’ve hung out with Arab friends who are darker and people will call me the white boy if they’re black/hispanic

When people clown white culture the usually are meaning the generic white of the slave south that has like 5 different European crosses with 1 random black person in their family tree 5 generations back.

IIRC most races are considered white due to the British classifying people as white.

But Louis CK is also Mexican and same thing pretty much except he grew up in America

Yeah it's a phenotype thing more than anything else, if you look white you're white at least in US. Stuff gets tricky for Hispanic/Latio people because of it too.
Some people are still out here talking about the one-drop rule.

Well idk they specific situations, but the general rule I’ve gone by is if you half and you act like you white, you white, as long as you embrace ya people and heritage then I’m not just gon call you straight white

Got some friends who are Hispanic and they get mistaken as white all the time. Some of them just ride with it occasionally because they don't care.

Aug 20, 2021It's very complicated because the definition of "White" has changed so much over time.
Also, many people who are classified as "White" on the census aren't really perceived that way like Middle Easterners and many Hispanics.
I remember running into Puerto Ricans and Colombians around my way who looked very Italian or Greek but did not consider themselves "White" at all even though they technically were.
It's really complicated my dude lol.

The only reason Arabs are considered white on the census is because Syrian immigrants in the 1800s lobbied to be called white for obvious socioeconomic reasons
