I dated an Albanian girl for a few months some years ago and she HATED white people. Like she would be openly racist at restaurants to them. Always thought Albanians were some type of middle eastern because of this, was shocked when we broke up to find out they’re european as f*** lol. She did not see herself as white nor did her family even tho even tho they definitely looked it.

idk, i feel like there's a stereotype of white americans taking pride in a culture that isn't even theirs because of ethnicity. you can find plenty of people here with partial german ancestry and no actual connection to Germany claim pride in their "german culture"

There are advantages to not being white in America

I know a whole lot of white passing people who always claimed to be white but ended up putting something different on that college application

Plus these days being white has a negative connotation so some people may want to avoid that
