modern rap production doesn’t lend itself to that
Bro I just said to myself we need someone to be what Pharrell was. The Neptunes were the force behind a lot of these records with Pharrell singing the hook
S***stopped being a selling point for mainstream in general. Even more so for men.
Morgan Wallen, Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Harry Styles, etc are amongst the biggest male singers.
Nobody walking around like Usher & JT with their shirt off and a six pack in music videos anymore
Most of the time these kind of Rap songs sound so cheap lol only a few can pull it off
Nah I miss the sound of those pop r&b rap songs but I don’t think it has to be about s***really, it’s better when it’s not overt

This is facts and comes down to the death of the grip that Pac influence had on male hiphop and r&b artists in the 2000s. The pendulum swung completely left for the big male artists that came the following decade

I think it’s moreso due to the fact these days the most resonating marketing for an artist with the general public is to come off relatable and attainable rather than being seen as some exclusive and perfect person.
Same reason why Taylor Swift is the biggest artist. White women like the dorky, non-sex appeal, and the relatable girl next door vibes. It makes them connect with the artist further when they can see themselves in them rather than feeling jealous/non relatable.
