is it just me or did his voice get worse? i didn't like many of his post bbtm releases, but i couldn't quite tell why i didn't like most of them

it has dawned on me that it's because of his voice. it sounds so... nasally... and squaky on his recent tracks. maybe it's bad mixing idk

Honestly it’s age and probably smoking. Like, similarly to drake’s voice getting lower and deeper, the weeknds voice changed. Not to mention he adjusted his style during Kissland. Probably vocal training.

He's a way, way better singer now than he was in 2011. Watch him live last year at Coachella - he actually hits the notes with good pitch and has become an excellent live singer.

I remember when Drake brought him out in 2012 or so when he was touring, and the dude was all vibrato. Really whiny and uncomfortable sounding.

I doubt smoking is doing any wonders for his voice, but he's come a long way. Especially live.
