on Heartless he literally sounds the best he sounded since starboy lmao.

im confused you guys make a post about his vocals now instead when power is power or lost in the fire dropped. These 2 tracks are some of the worst weeknd's vocals ever.

and i don't understand this comparison of trilogy and later s***.
    he literally sounds the same

like literally comn and heaven or las vegas are so similar when it comes to vocal work

i made a post waay back in ktt1 bout it and lots agreed. i love the weeknd now and his voice is the same at itss core. he just aint using it the same way. but thats alright. his voice overall got better

I think his voice sounds worse now because he doesn't take his time to sing anymore. His tracks now are like 3-4 minutes each and so he sings rushed, like he just wants to pack all the track in 3 minutes. He used to take his time before, making 6-8 minute songs :(

the only time his vocals got worse are when he performed live since mid 2018. i believe his vocal cords got damaged then. At coachella his voice was raspy and hoarse but he could still hit notes.

then he performed in Morocco and he sounded awful.
ever since then till the end of the asia tour he was bad to be honest.

and that's why imho it took so long for this chapter to start
he was on heavy vocal rest.
if you compare heartless (recently recorded, illangelo involved) to other 2019 songs(which were recorded mid 2018 - march 2019) his voice is drastically different

my guy u talking out ya asss with this one. literally every live performance these days a s***s on the ones trilogy era vocally. just click that coachella performance and then click any trilogy era performance after.

he clearly got better technically. just in the studio hes more mj, and less prince with his vocals.

now imagine if he took his live vocal runs and translated it into his studio work again with his improved voice. s*** would be next level.

I’m honestly convinced Abel makes music with the thought in mind of how good he can make it sound good live

I’m pissed that I forgot which interview it was, but he said something along the lines of. I think during the KL tour when a lot of crowds were dead because those songs weren’t great to sing along to. And how making “stadium” music was appealing to him. I believe it was around BBTM era

call out my name is one of his best vocal performances so makes no sense

also his older s*** is overproduced when it comes to his vocals its under a s*** ton of layers and is itself modified af in most of his songs

Yeah it’s not the voice just the song. He still has it. And has plenty of resources to get that sound back. It’s strictly a choice to stay away from it.

  • Singer with a lyric tenor not unlike Abel’s here. It’s literally the d****. Even being around weed smoke for me has a chance of making my s*** hoarse. I also have allergies on top of that. That said his voice is doing better than expected considering he claims to do all these d**** lmfao. Listen to Joni Mitchell’s discog, perfect example of a vocal range deepening and narrowing from chronic cigarette smoking.

I know exactly what you’re talking about but I can’t remember the interview either

It's vocal training. He used to sing way too high he would've ruined his voice if he kept singing like that

yea u right, he had vocal lessons. and he be going hard live. just wish he can translate that into the studio again. even more then him being experimental. i just wanna hear those OOOOOOOWAOOAAJHHH

like that part on the zone "and i dont give a DAAAAAAAMMMMNNNNNNNN. i felt alone for too long... OOHHHHH, OH YEAAA. anD I DONT FEEL A DAMNTHAAANNGGG" he dont do that in the stu no more.

his voice is fine, during trilogy + kissland there used to be hella effects+ vocal tracks layered with each other making his voice sound fuller

then layer and filter them again dammit
