Lemme not say "Native" as there are Blacks in Mexico who were brought to Mexico as slaves, but there is a pretty sizeable community/population of Afro-Mexicans who been there since like...the 18th and 19th century

Being culturally diverse doesn’t mean those cultures are being properly represented

Every American’s concept of foreign culture within the US is compartmentalized and presented within the vehicle of capitalism. You will never experience another minority’s culture unless it’s through a product like cuisine/film or you’re at a private event

You’ll never experience the cultural phenomenon surrounding Ramadan. You’ll never experience Chinese New Year outside of a city parade and some s*** you see on social media. You’ll never experience Dis De Los Muertes in its genuine form if you’re not Mexican. Youll never experience La Tomatina. You’ll never experience a multitude of traditions and practices that are everyday parts of other peoples lives. And if you do it’s because you paid money for it

fun fact: countries dont have to be ''diverse'' (in the american way of diverse which means using foreign things as yours while dismissing the actual source) but instead they have to stay true to their roots

I think it’s cool and breeds a special level of tolerance in peopel

But yes there are diverse countries but just on a quantity basis there are none, in the west atleast, like the US

No, because in those countries, cultures are not simply a vehicle of profit to the extent that they are in America. It doesn’t become a job or occupation, it is the traditional fabric of every day life that every person lives within and is molded by. Most of these holidays have not been co-opted by massive corporations as a means of sales to the extent of Christmas or Thxgiving/Black Friday

So you're saying in other countries these traditions exist simply because it's the way of life there, and we have these shallow imitations in the US as a way of both making money and helping Americans feel like they are inclusive?

fair enough but as far as tolerance goes there's at least a 30% that's against that and even though that number might not seem as much you dont really need more when that percentage has positions of power such as the police force, politicians and television networks
