We were talking about Astrothunder and how much we had no idea what the nigga was talking about, but god damn how incredible that song sounds

even if this was 100% true Rocky is a better rapper and has some of the best music videos ever

I’m not suggesting that either of them aren’t saying anything. One principle point of abstraction in art is that the content is only fully understood by the artist. It makes perfect sense to the artist but the way it’s conveyed is abstract to the person consuming it and they have to give it their own meaning

My thing is, why is it clear to people that a lot of Franks raps are an example of this but not Travis

utopia has underlying themes of spritual warfare. he's attempting to move forward while being reflective of the moments that made him HIM (parasail, my eyes, god's country, telekenesis, looove, modern jam, delresto). the idea of utopia is expressed more in production/samples rather than his lyrics, he's taking sounds from all over the world and blending them into one listening experience.
