meh I just wanted out of body music which I expected with the title ''utopia'' but we didnt get that even after waiting for 5 years
Full movie ain’t saying a thing either
I think gods country was tight
I mean they all look dope af but there isn't really anything to pick at..
Rodeo had like a narrator and a loose narrative kinda
And astroworld was pretty Houston focused
I feel like that helped those albums a lot
Travis is just like Rocky he raps about nothing in his music
It's all style over substance
I remember linking wit an old friend after a while and astroworld had just dropped.
We were talking about Astrothunder and how much we had no idea what the nigga was talking about, but god damn how incredible that song sounds

even if this was 100% true Rocky is a better rapper and has some of the best music videos ever
darkness
gkmc is so overrated.
What is GKMC even about anyway? and dont say streets and some ho named keisha or whatever lol
y'all love saying s*** just to say it. it's justly rated. the album is a reflection of street culture in la through the eyes of a teen becoming a man. it's right there in the title.
Niggas r gonna hate this but I feel like Travis and Frank have the same writing style
I’ll listen to Frank verse on Purity and ask myself “holy s*** what is this nigga talking about ” but he’s flowing his ass off and it sounds dope the way he’s stringing words together

you can have abstract lyrics and still say something tho..

It is def. not 'justly rated'
People are trying to say this is better than illmatic.
Id rather bump Reloaded by roc marc than this 2012 ass album.
a once great artist on the verge off irrelevancey after a tragic accident attempting to make one final comeback through a symphony of features and grandeur production that follows in the steps of his mentor almost too appreciably

GKMC is such a weird album to take these stances over lol

I think it was just a love letter to music that he made in a dark place
you can have abstract lyrics and still say something tho..
I’m not suggesting that either of them aren’t saying anything. One principle point of abstraction in art is that the content is only fully understood by the artist. It makes perfect sense to the artist but the way it’s conveyed is abstract to the person consuming it and they have to give it their own meaning
My thing is, why is it clear to people that a lot of Franks raps are an example of this but not Travis

I didnt feel the love...
great music tho

Because Frank is actually good at effortlessly doing it and Travis is just rushing to put together words that vaguely rhyme
utopia has underlying themes of spritual warfare. he's attempting to move forward while being reflective of the moments that made him HIM (parasail, my eyes, god's country, telekenesis, looove, modern jam, delresto). the idea of utopia is expressed more in production/samples rather than his lyrics, he's taking sounds from all over the world and blending them into one listening experience.
